Mon/Tu/Th/Fri 5:30am-10:30am and 2pm-5:30pm, Wednesday 8am-4:30pm. Position Summary: This position supports the Network's mobile health mission through driving the mobile health units to pre-determined sites. The position has overall responsibility for the operation, security, condition, and safety of mobile health units. This position ensures vehicles meet safe operating standards and is responsible for light repair as assigned. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Operate and drive the mobile health unit(s) from place of storage/parking to service areas, complying with all motor vehicle codes and regulations. Operates mobile unit such that all NYS and DOT road and safety regulations are always followed; reports any traffic violations to direct supervisor immediately. Prepare and set up the vehicles for services as well as breakdown at end of session; including filling water tanks, inspect vehicle for travel, ensure grey and black water tanks are empty and any other task. Note any maintenance issues for the vehicle and report them to the Mobile Health Leader, Regional Practice Leader, and/or Director of Procurement/Facilities. i.e., annual inspections, warranty regulations, transportation to repair facilities. Maintains all maintenance and DOT logs pertaining to mobile health units. Performs vehicle inspection checklist pre and post travel to identified locations and overnight storage of unit. Assists with maintaining cleanliness of the vehicles as directed. Turns on and off all necessary equipment (water, generator, etc.) at the beginning and end of each day. Responsible for processing and tracking documents/forms related to compliance and registration of the mobile health units. Assists the network's DOT coordinator on correspondence with DEC for any topics related to the mobile health units. Responsible for coordination of maintenance and repair of mobile health units. Leverage knowledge base to assist Network in making mobile unit vehicle related purchases/decisions . Ensures that communication devices (e.g., two-way radio, cellular phone) are in proper working order prior to each trip. In case of accidents/emergencies, follows any policies and protocols ensuring medical emergency procedures are followed. Provides initial and ongoing training with per-diem and part-time Mobile Health unit drivers. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Requires high school graduation or equivalent. Requires a minimum of one year of related experience driving a similar vehicle (i.e., passenger van, tractor-trailer, bus, RV). Must have valid driver's license and proof of insurability with clean driving record; CDL license required with air brake endorsement. Current DOT physical is required, and renewed when needed. (network will reimburse cost of DOT physicals) Knowledge and experience with routine vehicle maintenance and repair is preferred. The pay rate for this position is $30.00/hour.
