The Education Specialties Department is seeking talented per-course instructors for our masters and certificate programs in Educational Leadership, Learning Design & Technology, and School Counseling. Courses may be offered on our Evergreen Campus in Baltimore, Maryland. Additionally, courses may be offered in face-to-face, hybrid, and online formats.
We seek experienced educators, school leaders, and school counselors with a passion for education who can combine real-world experience with theoretical understandings of the field. The Education Specialties Department at Loyola University Maryland is recruiting a pool of persons for possible per-course affiliate teaching positions. This pool will be accessed ONLY when an opening arises. Your credentials will remain active as long as the pool position is available but no more than one year. After one year, if you are still interested, you must reapply to the current position pool. Only those selected for an interview will be contacted. The review of applications is ongoing.
Compensation Range:
$4,000.00 - $4,500.00
Successful candidates must have a master's degree or higher in a field related to the subject they wish to teach.
Applicants should have a minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a teacher, educational leader, or school counselor, or equivalent experience in a related field. Prior teaching experience at the undergraduate or graduate level is preferred. Prior experience with online education and specific tools used at Loyola, including Zoom and Moodle, also is preferred.
Successful candidates for any staff, faculty, or administrative position at Loyola University Maryland will be subject to a pre-employment background check.

SUMMARY: We are looking for Home based and Homebound Instructors for Fluvanna County Public School students who require specific types of instruction.
Home based: A program of home based instruction for students who are assigned to instruction at home due to IEP placement or disciplinary action.
Homebound: A program of homebound instruction for students, who are confined for periods that would prevent normal school attendance based upon certification of need by a licensed physician, physician assistant, or licensed clinical psychologist.
The location of services may occur in the student's home or a healthcare facility. If services are in the home, the parent or guardian must identify an adult who will be present at all times and agree to confine all pets prior to the arrival of the homebound teacher. If the home setting is not deemed appropriate for instruction and the student's condition allows, homebased and homebound instruction may take place: at the school, at the public library, or at another agreed upon location.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Maintain close contact with the student's teachers, counselor, or the program coordinator to receive and implement appropriate educational programs.
Deliver assignments and instruct the student as necessary.
Be present for all testing except those tests that are designated as take-home.
Regularly report academic progress to parents, teachers, and school counselors.
Maintain an accurate record of the hours of instruction provided for each assigned student and file such information with the Office of Testing, Accountability, and Alt. Ed.
Reports missed sessions to Student Services Assistant (missed by student or teacher) and include this information on the Homebound/Home-based timesheet.
Submit timesheets to the Student Services Assistant at Abrams Academy by the designated deadline.
Provide input, as appropriate, for measuring the student's academic achievement such as daily grading, report card grades, and awarding of credit.
Submit the student's completed work to the designated school representative in a timely manner.
Serve as a liaison between school and home.
Assist in the student's transition back to school.
Other duties as assigned.

About the Department:
George Mason University's Bachelor of Applied Science Degree (BAS) is a unique program created specifically for students who have earned an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree and seek to complete their Bachelor's degree, with a specialized concentration. Designed with the adult-learner in mind, but open to students of all ages, the BAS degree offers a flexible learning experience for students.
About the Position:
This position will teach and develop BAS 300 to ensure strong student learning outcomes and professional relevance. BAS 300 is the foundation course of the BAS program, and it prepares students for their capstone experiences. The course design must ensure students are prepared for success in their senior-level coursework.
Topics currently covered in the course include: career planning and development, "soft skill" development (time management, communication, etc.), foundations of college-level research, etc. Sample syllabi can be viewed on the BAS website.
The ideal candidate will have strong understanding of the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in higher education, by both instructors and students. The candidate should be prepared to incorporate AI knowledge within the course.
While all BAS courses are taught 100% online, asynchronous, the faculty member will be required to attend campus activities as needed. These include orientation, graduation, recruitment events, faculty retreats, etc.
Responsibilities:
* Teaches career development courses in the undergraduate program. The teaching load for this position is 4 courses per fall and spring semester;
* Assesses current curriculum annually, and redesigns courses as-needed to ensure curriculum remains relevant to today's career fields and expectations;
* Coordinates all sections of assigned courses to ensure continuity across the department. With the BAS Director, ensures adjunct faculty have the materials necessary to successfully teach courses; and

* Safety and Compliance: Ensure all training programs emphasize safety best practices, proper use of PPE, and adherence to Vertiv's safety protocols and industry standards. Demonstrate safe handling of thermal management equipment and educate participants on risk mitigation to foster a culture of safety within all training sessions.
* Global Team Collaboration: Coordinate with Vertiv's regional teams across different geographies to tailor training programs that address specific technical requirements, compliance standards, and cultural nuances. Facilitate consistent knowledge-sharing across regions and adapt training content to meet the needs of diverse international audiences.
QUALIFICATIONS
* Minimum of two years technical degree, HVAC preferred, or equivalent training and experience.
* Proficiency and knowledge of thermal management principles and field service required.
* Knowledge of electrical and electronic controls required.
* Excellent writing and verbal communication skills with an emphasis on presentation skills.
* Excellent organizational and time management skills.
* Possesses a positive attitude and flexibility in a rapidly changing environment.
* Detailed oriented and self-motivated with the ability to work without direct supervision.
* Proficient PC skills including all Microsoft Office products and web-based technologies.
* Preferred 5+ years of experience as a technical training instructor.
* Preferred formal trainer/facilitator Certification.
PHYSICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS
* Lifting and Moving Equipment: Technical trainers may need to handle, move, or demonstrate heavy cooling equipment, requiring safe lifting practices and the use of mechanical aids where possible.
* Extended Standing and Walking: Training sessions, especially hands-on or site tours, may require prolonged standing, walking, and navigating around equipment racks and systems.
* Use of PPE: When required, trainers should consistently wear and enforce the use of PPE, such as safety glasses, gloves, and protective footwear, especially when working around moving parts or hazardous fluids.
* Temperature and Humidity Extremes: Data centers may operate under controlled but varied temperatures, especially in areas where cooling systems are in high demand. Trainers must be prepared for fluctuations in temperature and high humidity levels within certain data center zones.
* Noise Levels: Mechanical cooling systems and high-density racks can create elevated noise levels, requiring the use of hearing protection in certain areas.
* Confined Spaces: Some cooling equipment may be in tight spaces, necessitating careful navigation and awareness to avoid injuries.
* Exposure to Chemicals: Trainers may come into contact with coolants and other fluids, requiring adherence to safety procedures for handling and disposal to avoid skin or respiratory exposure.
