This position will troubleshoot, repair, replace, maintain electrical/ systems for production related equipment and building utilities within a high-speed metal packaging manufacturing facility. This is an hourly position in high-speed, high-volume manufacturing environment where compliance to all safety policies, procedures and regulations is our way of doing business. Hourly Rate: $40.00/hr Primary Hours/Shift: 3rd Shift (10:00pm - 6:30am) Day to day responsibilities will include the following: * Perform preventive maintenance inspections on production equipment as needed and assigned * Assist in developing related preventive maintenance that do not currently exist. * Troubleshoot of circuits as required to repair, adjust, calibrate, replace, modify electrical components and devices of production equipment. * Knowledge of the requirements and use of Lockout Tagout. * Knowledgeable of and conform to the requirements of NFPA70E, Arc Flash. * Other duties as assigned. Job Position: Plant Electrician Job Location: West Chicago, IL Reports to: Maintenance Supervisor Pay Range: $30-$40 JOB SUMMARY: Diagnoses and performs electrical and mechanical repairs on cup machines, inspectors, baggers, pre-expansion machines and conveyors along with repairing molds and performing change-over of molds. Plans layouts, installs and repairs wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatus and control equipment. Controls and automation, PLC programming, and 110 to 480 Volt. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Diagnoses problems by inspecting and disassembling equipment to determine extent of repairs necessary. Performs electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and hydro repairs to the cup machines, inspectors, bagging machines, pre-expansion machines and conveyors. Uses drawings, diagrams, operational manuals, manufacturing specifications, etc., when diagnosing problems and making repairs. Repairs electrical components, cylinders valves, pumps, motors, cooling tower, piping, boilers conveyors, baggers, pre-expansion and cup machines. Test continuity of circuits to ensure electrical components are safe by testing with ohmmeter, batter and buzzer, oscilloscope. Measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble and install electrical conduit along with pulling the wiring. Install control and distribution apparatus such as switches, relays and circuit breaker panels Provides assistance to other Maintenance Mechanics while working on production machines and associated equipment. Notifies the Maintenance Lead about any needed repairs that are outside of their scope of responsibility or ability to repair. Perform work in a safe manner to include performing LOTO of equipment before making any repairs. Attend meeting and training session as required. Follow all GMP and sanitation guidelines along with maintaining a high level of personal hygiene. Adheres to all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), food safety, HACCP and SQF process requirements, and sanitation guidelines rectify and or report any and all non-compliance to leadership. Follows WinCup OPERA Values, safety initiatives, and other related plant standards. Perform other duties as assigned by the Shift Supervisor, Maintenance Lead or Maintenance Manager including special projects and working with outside vendors and contractors while on site. Performs all other duties as assigned. Competencies: Ability to follow directives with WCH leadership, managers, supervisors, in ensuring productivity and target levels are sustained. Ensures all company policies and procedures including manufacturing and safety policies and procedures are followed at all times. Collaboration with plant, safety, and leadership. Education and Qualifications: High school diploma or GED. Four (4) years' experience in electrical maintenance in a manufacturing environment repairing production machines. Electrical and mechanical aptitude along with manual dexterity. Knowledge of 480 and 240/3-phase systems and 110 single phase. Must be able to speak, read and write English in order to complete job specific paperwork. Ability to work independently and function as a team member. Ability to obtain a forklift or powered industrial truck certification. Good planning and organizing skills. Must have own tools, volt-meter and amp probe (specialty tools provided by WinCup). Work mandatory overtime, early morning, late evenings and weekends when required during busy season, inventory, and for vacation coverage. Tools and Equipment: Drill press, power saw, chain fall, burning and welding equipment, portable drill grinder, safety devices, miscellaneous electrical testing equipment and hand tools, etc. Materials: AC and DC equipment, such as cranes, furnaces, machine tools, motors, generators, controls, switches, circuit breakers, transformers, control panels, lighting circuits, wire, tape, insulation, repair parts, etc. Source of Supervision: Foreman. Performs work with a minimum of direction. Direction Exercised: Works alone or directs Helpers. Working Procedures: Receives instructions covering the scheduled and emergency repair, installation and inspection work to be done. Answers signal for electrical maintenance. Inspects all electrical equipment in the plant, checking motor bearings, lubrication, commutation, excessive vibration, obvious signs of wear or need for adjustment, etc. When faulty operation is observed or pointed out by operating crews, diagnose trouble using testing equipment or own judgment based on general knowledge of electrical principles. Makes either temporary or permanent repairs as required to equipment, such as main motor drives, generators, control panels, relays, interlocking control systems, electronic devices and circuit breakers. Makes mechanical and electrical repairs on cranes. Makes mechanical repairs as required in connection with the servicing of electrical equipment. Erects scaffolds and performs simple rigging as required. Operates small machine tools, such as drill press, power saw, etc. Checks air compressor for proper operation. May start, stop or adjust compressor. Occasionally may operate crane as required to check condition or to make miscellaneous lifts in the absence of the craneman. May make emergency, minor mechanical repairs in the absence of other maintenance personnel. Occasionally performs simple burning or welding pertaining to his work. Occasionally may install conduit in connection with electrical maintenance. Maintains clean and orderly working area. Cleans up after repair or installation is completed. Requirements: Qualifications Applicants will need to possess the following credentials to qualify for the Electrician job. Journeyman electrician papers through an accredited journeyman program. Or Associates degree in electrical technology or comparable degree from an accredited school or college. At least 2 years of industrial electrical experience. Self-employment is not acceptable. Applicants will be asked to pass an electrical written test.
