EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Graduation from high school or GED equivalency supplemented by courses or experience in mechanical and electrical/electronic maintenance in the traffic and transportation field or related electrical field preferred. Possess an electrical license or equivalent breadth of knowledge and service, electronic certification, and International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) Traffic Signal Technician certifications. * Knowledge: Knowledge of the methods, procedures, materials, and tools related to the installation, maintenance, and repair of traffic control devices, including test equipment and testing procedures used in the calibration and repair of electronic equipment. * Skills: Excellent communication skills (written and oral). * Abilities: Ability to keep and develop printed and computerized records. Ability to read and interpret schematic diagrams and logic charts. * Licenses: Possess and maintain a valid driver's license with a good driving record. Must possess and maintain a CDL "B" license with a good driving record. Must have the ability to pass drug screening mandated by the Federal Department of Transportation for CDL drivers. WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS All selected applicants must pass a criminal background investigation, pre-employment physical, and drug screen. * Physical Requirements: Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, feel, or operate objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms. Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 lbs occasionally and lift and/or move up to 100 lbs. * Vision: Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. * Working Conditions: Regularly works outside, including in inclement weather. Frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and vibration. Occasionally works in high, precarious places and is exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock. * Location and Schedule: Standard work hours are 5:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. This position may require weekend work, nights, or being on-call as part of regular job responsibilities.
