Mortgage lenders require periodic updates on their properties and to do this they send out independent contractors. The purpose of the property inspection is:

We contract with inspectors at a county level. This means that you would be responsible to complete all inspections in your county. In some cases, you will split the county with another inspector if there is enough volume for two inspectors.

The Housing Inspector will perform health, safety, and property maintenance, building construction, and zoning code inspections within the City. Duties include, but are not limited to responding to public inquiries, processing field inspections, identifying code violations, preparing correspondence, reports, and completing other office work as necessary. The ability to learn and efficiently utilize electronic field tablet technology is required. Qualified candidates must have good powers of observation, be able to work under pressure, have excellent customer service, verbal and written communication skills, exercise independent judgment, and have the ability to maintain a positive attitude in all circumstances. The ability to traverse difficult terrain and work in inclement weather conditions is required.
Applicants must be registered or qualified for registration as an Act 54 construction inspector with State of Michigan. Bilingual skills are helpful but not required. Approximately 60% of the work performed will be related to code enforcement and 40% of the work performed will be related to electrical inspections.
