Day to Day
The Instructional Designer is responsible for managing the Epic curriculum architecture and overseeing all aspects of planning, designing, developing, and implementing training for designated applications. This role includes creating and maintaining course curricula, developing realistic practice scenarios and exercises, and building, testing, and maintaining the training environment. The Instructional Designer will educate, credential, mentor, and support Credentialed Trainers, deliver end-user education, and implement tools to measure training success. Collaboration with organizational leaders, application analysts, and clinical educators is essential to ensure workflows are accurately reflected in the system and that end users can fully utilize application functionality. The position requires mastering both Epic applications and Virtua-specific workflows to guide training development and system updates. Key responsibilities include developing instructor-led presentations, e-learning modules, proficiency assessments, and supporting materials; publishing curriculum on the Virtua Learning System; assisting with training strategy and policy development; and maintaining application proficiency to provide effective customer support. Organizational Function and Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for instruction in the Video Audio Design program at the college level. This includes developing a relevant and progressive curriculum, designing and implementing effective learning strategies and environments, delivering instruction of high quality, assessing student learning, advising students, and participating in college service activities at the department, division and college levels.
This position reports to the Associate Dean - School of Business and Applied Arts.
Essential Duties:

1. Responsible for instruction in the Video Audio Design program including but not limited to the following courses: Video Production, Audio Production, Animation, and Design Production.
2. Develop and plan appropriate instructional strategies and alternative delivery strategies when appropriate including but not limited to hybrid, face-to-face and on-line course delivery.
3. Participate in in-service meetings, staff development training or other activities or programs requested by the Department.
4. Assist and advise students who have problems with assignments, tests, grades, course content, career concerns, and other academic matters.
5. Comply with college policies and directions regarding student testing, record keeping, advanced standing, providing grades on a timely basis, evaluating student performance and maintaining office hours for student assistance and counseling, etc.

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The Professional Learning Specialist supports the Chester Upland School District (CUSD) in delivering a seamless system of comprehensive academic and instructional support in alignment with the district's Equity-based Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) model. This role involves designing and implementing professional learning opportunities, monitoring MTSS implementation, and fostering data-driven decision-making. The position ensures that equitable services are provided to students with diverse academic needs and facilitates the alignment of district resources and instructional frameworks with MTSS initiatives.
REPORTS TO AND EVALUATED BY:
The Professional Learning Specialist reports directly to and is evaluated by the Chief Academic Officer and Director of Pupul Services and works cooperatively with the Central Administration staff members and with other district personnel to perform job responsibilities as outlined.

MTSS Expertise and Implementation:
Apply extensive knowledge of MTSS, standards-aligned instruction, evidence-based practices, and instructional supports.
Monitor and ensure timely and appropriate Tier I, II, and III interventions align with district frameworks and compliance guidelines.
Conduct school visits to evaluate MTSS implementation and provide coaching and technical assistance.
Professional Development and Training:
Design and deliver professional development workshops, including virtual and hybrid formats, on MTSS and evidence-based instructional strategies.
Facilitate training sessions for school-based MTSS teams, ensuring active learning and application of best practices.
Develop district-wide professional learning resources.
Data Analysis and Reporting:
Collect and analyze academic and intervention data to inform decisions and monitor program effectiveness.
Prepare reports documenting MTSS implementation outcomes and provide actionable recommendations to leadership teams.
Support data-driven decision-making processes at the school, network, and district levels.
Collaboration and Leadership:
Serve as a liaison between school sites and the central office MTSS leadership team.
Foster collaboration among staff to implement instructional frameworks and promote staff buy-in for MTSS initiatives.
Model and implement cycles of continuous improvement.
Support central office academic initiatives.
Participate in grant writing, RFP/RFQ preparation, and related documentation as needed.
Maintain effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.
