Outfitting as it's referenced (aka: upfitting), is the installation of all Messer specialty equipment that is unable to be installed by the truck OEM on the assembly line. This process at Messer Chattanooga includes proto-typing the first new units built each year, documenting the outfitting procedure, establishing material requirements, completing the process on ~12 regional based units, sourcing the required materials and creating shipments to outside upfit shops. This role will also have responsibility to oversee and complete the rebuilding of identified major components used in the fleet where a rebuilt exchange program is currently place. i.e. hydraulic coolers, Power Take Offs.
