Perform initial basic assessment procedures including standardized psychological testing, clinical interviewing, mental status examinations, substance abuse evaluations, and psychological and nursing assessment. • Identify mental health and nursing diagnoses, and provide patient education. • Observe, monitor, record, and report patient's progress. • Conduct or assist in conducting group and individual counseling, therapeutic community, and other related milieu activities. • Institute precautionary measures to prevent patient injury or suicide. • Assist patients with nutritional, hygiene, and comfort measures. • Obtain and record vital signs. • Coordinate with other agencies regarding specified care, treatment, prevention, rehabilitation, and administrative functions. Contact military and community agencies to obtain collateral information. • Explain and interpret mental health services to patients or others. • Assist in, or arrange patient referral to public, private, and military community agencies. • Prepare and maintain records and reports pertaining to specialty services. • Assist with care of individuals experiencing acute and post-traumatic stress reactions. • Prepare and maintain treatment records. **The employee will provide services in the Psychiatric Clinic at NBHC Gulfport, MS facility. Services are part of the Psychological Health initiative under the Psychological Health and Traumatic Brain Injury (PH and TBI) program. The program seeks to address gaps in the care available for the prevalent injuries among combatants from the global war on terrorism. Through adoption of risk-based staffing models and a uniform, best practice standard of care across DOD, the program seeks to ensure easy, rapid access to PH care for all beneficiaries and to ensure that transition across networks of care recognizes the unique care coordination and case management requirements for PH and TBI patients. Schedule: Normal schedule is Monday - Friday, 8.5 hours between 7:00am and 3:30pm, including a half-hour lunch break. No Weekends, No Call, No Holidays! Requirements Minimum Qualifications: Education: Graduate from an accredited community college, junior college, college, university or vocational nursing program approved by the appropriate state agency and accredited by The National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). Experience: Must have at least one year of recent post-grad clinical experience as a LVN/LPN within the last 2-years. License: Active, unrestricted license to practice as a LVN/LPN from any state. -- Please identify state of licensure.
