Refractory and Melt Deck production associates complete a variety of operations tasks that promote the efficient melting and mixing of iron in the Spin Line department. This role requires employees to take on added technical/mechanical responsibility. They are required to learn mechanical and metalogical skills to ensure the mix of pour is ideal for the entire process.
Essential Functions:
* Operate overhead crane to move raw material from raw material yard to charge cars for melting process and transfer iron to holding furnace
* Weigh material
* Monitor and add alloys as needed
* Perform temperature checks on the electric melt furnace
* Slag furnace removing impurities from 2650 - 2800 degree molten iron
* Charge and operate the furnace to melt the materials for the full melt cycle
* Enter and retrieve data from the computer
* Perform routine preventive maintenance
* Pour molten iron from furnace to transfer ladle
* Sintering and cold starts
* Maintain a clean work environment in accordance with the 5S guidelines
* Operate industrial powered equipment
* Perform all other duties as assigned
* Knock out, pour, and rebuild the following:
* Runner Box, I- Ladles, and Slag Poles
* Complete the weekly PMs on melt furnace, which includes:
* Knocking out slag from the furnace wall

About The Job
Your job as a Packaging Technician for Opella Consumer Healthcare involves ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of diverse packaging machinery, from slat fillers to thermoformers and cappers. You'll be responsible for the equipment's set-up, cleaning, and maintenance, playing a vital part in our production process.
This is a 1st shift position. Monday - Friday: 6:00am - 2:00pm.
Main Responsibilities:
Use tools to efficiently disassemble and reassemble machinery as needed.
Prepare packaging lines for various products, ensuring components and equipment are set up correctly.
Provide packaging supplies and bulk products as required to maintain smooth operations.
Monitor product quality and reject any materials or packages not meeting FDA-cGMP standards.
Document and maintain proper fill levels according to product specifications.
Operate packaging lines following Set-Up Sheets, SPIs (Standard Packaging Instructions), SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures), and other procedures.

A Brief Summary of This Position
The Warehouse Operator position is an individual contributor position who supports the Small Parts department reporting to the Shift Supervisor. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Machine Operator 1 is a training position through which Associates may advance to the Machine Operator 2 position. Through this training position, associates will learn to operate extrusion lines and produce vinyl siding products and accessories: ensuring that extruder outputs are consistent with product specifications and that quality assurance standards are maintained by inspecting finished product for consistency.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
* Associate must learn to verify operational status of all equipment on assigned line according to start-up check list
* Maintain extruder and all peripheral line equipment settings (embosser, sterlco, dies, MRF, etc.) to produce outputs that are consistent with product specifications
* Perform Quality Assurance responsibilities that include conducting a variety of tests on finished product to determine product quality within an established range of performance
* Notify Supervisory personnel of deviations for prompt and accurate correction(s)
* Communicate with Maintenance Department and Manufacturing Shift Supervisor about machine malfunctions
* Learn to Assist Machine Operator 2 with troubleshooting operational problems and adjust equipment to maintain consistency on the extrusion lines; inform QA Technician and Manufacturing Shift Supervisor(s) of problems or inefficiencies that cannot be corrected
* Learn to Assist with extruder machine output changeovers (e.g., embossing drums, die sets) during the shift
* Learn to conduct a variety of line/panel checks to determine product consistency, including panel thickness, width, length, radius, hook, nail hems, perforation, and weep holes
* Perform housekeeping duties as needed such as clean up of water spills, knock-out build up in MRF cutter, and knock-out bins; maintain cleanliness of extrusion line and surrounding work area
* Monitor Production Associate 1s and 2s (Inspector/Packer) to ensure consistency and quality of product packed and application of proper packing techniques
* Develop communication skills so knowledge can be shared with previous and following shifts' Production Associates about product quality, problems, and status of work in progress
* Complete accurately and legibly all extrusion and quality assurance related paperwork (e.g. operational reports)
* Refer to Production Schedule for color of product, product number and quantity to be produced
* Locate Quality Assurance Specification from Lab to adhere to specifications for appropriate product
* Perform all quality assurance checks according to schedule on Operational Report
* Punch time clock before and after shift to record time worked
* Observe health and safety practices at all times
* Accurately performs pre-start checks, including verifying all equipment is ready for start-up
Qualifications
Education: High School Graduate/GED
Experience: Six months of related or production experience is required.
Knowledge: Must be able to read, write and have working knowledge of machine mechanics. Must have good mechanical aptitude and above average math aptitude.
Mental/Physical/Visual Demands: Must possess common sense, positive attitude, and demonstrate excellent attendance. Must be quality and safety conscious, a team player. Must have good communication skills and the ability to interact with people. Must be detail oriented with ability to operate, read, and interpret test equipment/findings. Must have ability to learn to operate a computer and ten key. Needs ability to use and read calipers and micrometers to within one thousandth of an inch. Must be able to work quickly with product and be able to lift 86 pounds maximum, be able to lift with assistance 87 to 100 pounds, keep colors separate, and records weights accurately. Must have excellent manual dexterity.
Working Conditions: Extensive standing, frequent bending, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, twisting and walking. Extreme weather conditions, and conflicts over acceptable product quality possible.

Your job as a Packaging Technician for Opella Consumer Healthcare involves ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of diverse packaging machinery, from slat fillers to thermoformers and cappers. You'll be responsible for the equipment's set-up, cleaning, and maintenance, playing a vital part in our production process.

Main Responsibilities:
Use tools to efficiently disassemble and reassemble machinery as needed.
Prepare packaging lines for various products, ensuring components and equipment are set up correctly.
Provide packaging supplies and bulk products as required to maintain smooth operations.
Monitor product quality and reject any materials or packages not meeting FDA-cGMP standards.
Document and maintain proper fill levels according to product specifications.
Operate packaging lines following Set-Up Sheets, SPIs (Standard Packaging Instructions), SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures), and other procedures.
