Horace, ND 58047 1st Shift: 7:00am - 3:30pm 2nd Shift: 3:00pm - 11:30pm 3rd Shift: 11:00pm - 7:30am Job Summary The Machine Operator is responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining manual and/or automated packaging equipment used in the final processing of Red River Commodities Snack Seed products . This role ensures that products are packaged accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with quality and safety standards. Key Responsibilities Operate and oversee manual and/or automated packaging machines including baggers, sealers, labelers, palletizers, shrink wrappers, and conveyors Set up machines for daily production runs, including loading materials and adjusting settings for product specifications Monitor packaging line performance and troubleshoot equipment issues to minimize downtime Perform routine quality checks on packaged products (weight, seal integrity, labeling accuracy) Maintain accurate production records and batch documentation Conduct daily equipment inspections and report maintenance needs Clean and sanitize packaging equipment and work areas according to specific location protocols Assist with changeovers between product types and packaging formats Collaborate with maintenance, quality assurance, and warehouse teams to ensure smooth operations Follow all safety guidelines and wear required PPE Other duties as assigned Qualifications: Experience operating packaging machinery in a production environment preferred Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot equipment Familiarity with automated systems and HMI interfaces a plus Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and standing for extended periods Strong communication and teamwork skills Working Conditions: Physical Environment: The position is based in a production environment where temperatures may fluctuate, with exposure to warmer and cooler environments in other parts of the facility. Noise Levels: The facility can be noisy due to machinery and equipment operation. Hearing protection is required in specific areas to comply with safety standards. Physical Demands: Employees will be required to stand for extended periods, frequently lift products weighing up to 20-40 pounds, and occasionally handling products weighing up to 60 pounds with assistance. Frequent bending and reaching are also required. PPE Requirements: All employees must wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including gloves, closed toe shoes, hearing protection, or other protective gear, as necessary. Shift Work: The role may require rotating shifts, evening shifts, and weekend work based on production needs. Flexibility in working hours is essential. Hazards: Employees must work safely around machinery, conveyors, and potentially hot surfaces. Adherence to all safety protocols and guidelines is crucial. Work Pace: The work environment is fast-paced and requires the ability to perform repetitive tasks quickly and efficiently while maintaining high levels of accuracy and product quality.
