Mows grass, plants trees, shrubs, or flowers according to instructions and planned design of landscaped area. Grubs and weeds around bushes, trees, and flower beds.
Plants new and repairs established lawns. Trims and edges around walks, flower beds, and walls.
Applies herbicide, sprays lawn, shrubs, and trees with fertilizer, herbicides, and insecticides as designated by crew leader, maintenance foreman and under supervision of licensed professional.
Trims hedges and shrubs. Prunes trees, mulches and cultivates gardens. Sprays trees and shrubs and applies supplemental liquid and dry nutrients to lawn and trees as designated by crew leader and/or maintenance supervisor.
Picks up and disposes of litter and trash from grounds and designated areas. Rakes and bags leaves.
Digs trenches and installs drain tiles. Keeps storm drains and culverts free of debris.
Repairs and paints, benches, tables and guardrails, and assists in repair of roads, walks, buildings, and mechanical equipment.
Makes repairs to concrete and asphalt walks and driveways.
Repairs fences, gates, walls, and walks. Paints fences and outbuildings.
Assists with athletic field preparation.
Sharpens tools such as weed cutters, edging tools, and shears.
Makes minor repairs on small equipment such as mowers, trimmers, and blowers.
Drives vehicles, Repairs and maintains tools and equipment.
Maintains fall surface under play structures.
Shovels snow from walks, biking trails, bridges, city parks, city parking lots and spreads ice-melt on public passageways to prevent ice buildup.
Responsible for supervising temporary employees.
Responsible for working with Parks Maintenance Manager, Parks Maintenance Foreman and department crew leaders to respond to city services during inclement weather events. This position is considered an essential services position that requires work to be performed during extreme weather and in natural disaster events.
Assist with special projects performed by the Parks and Recreation Department and local organizations, including, but not limited to, construction projects, ballfield preparations, special events or programming and holiday lights display.

Job Summary

About the Position:
The HVAC/Kitchen Technician is responsible for general daily maintenance and operation on all aspects of the campus kitchens, HVAC, mechanical, boiler, and plumbing systems. Although the position requires some scheduling flexibility, its work schedule is primarily 40 hours per week.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Perform preventative and maintenance on kitchen related equipment and refrigeration systems.
Assist in all standards, policies, and procedures as they relate to mechanical and plumbing systems.
Monitor and maintain the kitchen ventilation hoods, stoves, ovens, and HVAC control systems.
Have a working knowledge and competency to monitor and maintain the boiler systems.
Assist in the development of planned maintenance schedules for all HVAC, refrigeration units, vent hoods, cooking equipment, mechanical and plumbing systems.
Respond to and manage work orders, keep logs of inspections, and tool inventory through the centralized maintenance management system.
Assist in inspections for regulatory compliance.
Assist with the safety program, monitoring compliance with applicable building and safety codes, hazardous waste disposal, OSHA, hazardous materials, etc.
Required to participate in the on-call rotation.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications required for your success:
Working knowledge to maintain kitchen equipment, coolers, freezers, and provide training when needed.
3-5 years working knowledge of mechanical, HVAC, boiler, refrigeration and building control management equipment and systems.
Working knowledge of principles and practices of federal, state, and local law, code, and regulations applicable to the work, including regulations applicable to safe work practices and procedures.
Strong mechanical aptitude and can communicate effective with peers and culinary staff.
Highest ethics as they relate to all aspects of business.
Basic computer skills and ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.
Strong oral and written communications skills.
Strong organizational skills and capable of operating tools that could be hazardous.
