The Heavy Equipment Mechanic | Field Technician position will diagnose and repair all heavy construction equipment in the field. To ensure success as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic, you should have proven experience working with heavy machinery, be physically fit, and be able to troubleshoot issues in the shop and on the job site. A Heavy Equipment Mechanic must demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service. This position is based out of a local shop but travels to various sites as needed for equipment diagnosis and repair. Starting Salary: $26.00 - $28.00/per hour, plus overtime. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * Driving to the job site to operate and inspect all construction equipment and components to determine needed repairs. * Diagnosing faults and ability to read schematics. * Hydraulic troubleshooting and ability to read hydraulic schematics. * Discuss equipment problems with supervisor and/or others as needed. * Repair, replace, calibrate, adjust and/or rebuild components. * Test repaired equipment for proper operation. * Inspect, add and/or change fluids and lubricants; check and replace worn parts and perform other routine service and maintenance. * Complete all required welding and fabrication work, as needed. * Read equipment manuals, service bulletins and other resources; attend training sessions. Assist in installation of playground equipment, borders, and sidewalks at campuses. Assist project crews in other areas as needed. Maintain equipment utilized for projects. Convey to the Project Crew leader any needs or concerns related to playgrounds. Run a skid-steer, dingo, mini excavator, mowers, and related equipment used in normal landscape function. Estimate materials and procures the proper materials and supplies for completion of the work order/project. Operate hand/power tools and equipment required in the craft, using good safety practices. Inspect and adjust tools and equipment for safety and efficiency and perform preventive maintenance as needed. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures. Specific Duties and Responsibilities: Ability to be trained to read, understand and work from blueprints, isometric drawings, sketches and other data to select material, cut, measure and thread pipe, install pipe hangers, hang pipe, prepare piping for welding and assembly flanges for both new installation and maintenance operations. Take measurements, fit flat plate or circumference plate for inlays and overlays.
