Responsibility:

Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues and perform timely repairs.
Inspect equipment to ensure safety and operational efficiency in compliance with OSHA and company standards.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repairs performed using maintenance logs.
Respond to breakdowns promptly and effectively to minimize downtime.
Conduct safety checks and troubleshooting lift systems, motors, hydraulics, and control systems.
Replace or repair faulty parts such as motors, hydraulic cylinders, hoses, sensors, and batteries.
Coordinate with vendors and order parts when necessary.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
Assist with general facility maintenance as needed.

Academic/Educational Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications
Less than 2 years related experience
High school diploma or equivalent
Valid driver's license, good driving record, and ability to safely operate lift trucks.
Preferred Qualifications
Good mechanical and electrical aptitudes, knowledge of electrical/electronic systems and hydraulics and internal combustion engines, and the ability to read and understand electrical and hydraulic schematics.
Good written/verbal communication and customer care skills.
Technical degree, previous lift truck repair, welding experience, and knowledge of various types of testing equipment preferred.
Familiar with tools and equipment such as common hand tools, electrical/air tools, torch, arc welder and various types of testing equipment.
Industry related training is preferred
Ability to read and understand service manuals, plan, and follow-through

Position Overview
We're hiring a Mobile Semi-Trailer Technician to support our expanding service operations in West Michigan. This field-based role offers independence and flexibility-no daily reporting to a central office. You'll travel locally to customer sites to perform trailer repairs and maintenance, delivering reliable, high-quality service.
What You'll Do
Diagnose and repair trailers at customer locations.
Perform welding, fabrication, and structural repairs.
Dismantle and reassemble trailer components using hoists and tools.
Conduct safety inspections and maintain your service truck.
Accurately document service work and time logs
Participate in an on-call rotation (approx. one week/month)
What You'll Bring
High school diploma or GED
2-5 years of trailer or heavy-duty equipment repair experience preferred
Welding and fabrication skills are highly desirable.
One ASE or Michigan State Certification required
Your own hand tools
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
Ability to obtain a DOT Medical Card (company-paid)
Must pass a drug screen, physical, and lift test
Physical Requirements
Lift/carry 30 lbs frequently.
Lift/carry 50 lbs occasionally.
Team lifts to 100 lbs infrequently.
Compensation & Pay Structure
Hourly Pay: $29.00-$30.00 based on experience
Commission Option: Start at 30% of invoiced labor, increasing monthly to a cap of 35%
Quarterly Hourly Pay: When not earning commission
