Are you experienced in Critical Infrastructure Commissioning and looking for a fast paced environment to work in? As a Data Center Commissioning Engineer (CxE), you will be part of highly creative, efficient team tasked with tackling fascinating and challenging problems building and supporting the operations of Amazon owned data centers. The Amazon Commissioning team (ACx) understands, evaluates, defines and manages the expectations of construction quality in accordance to engineering designs to meet the customer requirements. The CxE is responsible for supporting vendors, contractors, and other teams involved in the construction and commissioning of various systems such as: • Medium and low voltage power systems • Generators • UPS • HVAC (Air Handlers / Exhaust Fans / VFD) • Chilled Water Systems • Building Management systems (BMS) • Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS) • Testing and balancing • Pumps and Hydronic systems Key job responsibilities As the Commissioning Engineer (CxE), you will provide testing and validation oversight of AWS data center electrical and mechanical infrastructure. This includes, but not limited to, review of design documents and equipment submittals, leading Factory Witness Testing (FWT), and managing third-party commissioning vendors in the performance of onsite pre-functional, functional, and integrated systems testing. You will own your projects' successes where you Deep Dived to resolve technical issues and had Bias for Action to address schedule impacts and coordination demands onsite. You will be sharing your lessons learned leading towards team growth and program improvements. You will get the opportunity to provide multi-discipline input into the scheduling, test script development, designing, and planning of projects. During commissioning, you will be continuously auditing Cx vendors' activities to ensure compliance with environmental, quality, and safety requirements. Following the AWS project reporting format, you will be responsible for regular reporting of commissioning progress and metrics of assigned project to your Regional Commissioning Manager. You will have the opportunity to lead several projects simultaneously to achieve key milestones and deliver data center capacity, while managing project budget as approved by Finance. A day in the life On a typical project, the CxE works across AWS engineering, capacity delivery, operations, and contractor teams to coordinate site activities, prioritize tasks, and ensure each issue has clear path to resolution. The CxE manages the project commissioning vendor whose primary scope is to execute functional tests, identify issues, determine criticality, propose solutions, and document their findings. If project turnover is at risk, the CxE escalates to the appropriate stakeholders. Upon project completion, the CxE will communicate lessons learned to help peers on similar projects in flight and participate in initiatives that drive improvement to the commissioning program. Roles & Responsibilities: Develop and/or modify designs related to Aero-engine components by analyzing product specifications, performance requirements, and existing manufacturing capabilities Execute mechanical design projects of gas turbine components on Structures/Rotating parts (Frames, Shaft, Disk, Blisk, seals etc.) and/or Airfoils (Blade, Vanes, Nozzles etc.) Evaluate concepts of new designs/improvements, manufacturing methods, materials or processes and complete required documentation by applying engineering principles and Industry standards, and generating reports, procedures or change proposals Capture design & system requirements from the customer, and incorporate into the component design Support technical substantiation, contribute & present in technical and program reviews Develop components and modules keeping cost, performance, life, and system requirements in mind Design and Analysis of the component using CAE tools (NX, ANSYS Classic, ANSYS workbench) Direct interface with other internal/external engineering functions Apply technical principles, theories, and concepts to solve a wide range of challenging engineering problems Evaluate form, fit, function and life of the components relative to the certified configuration Evaluate non-conformances by reviewing, analyzing design criteria's and acceptability limits, recommend disposition procedures and maximizing producibility Required Skills (Technical Competency): We're excited to talk to you if your qualifications meet the following criteria: 1+ years of experience in the mechanical design of Gas-turbine or Turbo-machinery components Minimum BS/B.Tech in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering from an accredited university Experience with NX and ANSYS (Classic or workbench) or other similar tools Ability to easily interpret technical drawings with understanding of GD&T Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, work under time constraints, maintain composure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously Ability to interact with employees/managers at all levels with strong oral and written communication skills Project Management experience is desired, but not required Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment Like to work in a fast paced, creative environment Enjoy people and dynamic teams with diverse experiences. Our co-ops build industry competitive skills in a hands-on environment, all while working on a team, and being trained by Professional Engineers in AutoCAD and Revit. The skills our co-ops learn allow them to create real construction drawings for real CMTA projects. This position is a full time (40 hrs./week), onsite position with a competitive hourly pay rate and eligible for overtime pay. This position will start May 2026 and go through Summer. Dates are flexible with school calendar.
