Recruiting Clinical Lab Technologist for Nathan S. Kline Institute for Psychiatric Research
Nathan S. Kline Institute for Psychiatric Research (NKI), an Office of Mental Health (OMH) Joint Commission accredited facility, is recruiting a Clinical Lab Technologist to serve as a Medical Technologist 1.
As a Medical Technologist 1, you will perform specialized chemical, physical, and microscopic clinical laboratory procedures and tests on human tissue specimens and body fluids in accordance with approved standards and operating procedures in NKI's Clinical Laboratory.
Duties:
Prepares specimens and samples for testing
Operates, adjusts, monitors, and maintains clinical laboratory instruments and equipment
Prepares and analyzes specimens and samples for use in clinical laboratory proficiency testing
Analyzes, interprets, and discusses test results and findings with higher-level clinical laboratory staff, healthcare professionals, and/or scientists.
Documents clinical laboratory activities, maintains required records, and prepares statistical reports.

About NKI:
NKI is one of the nation's most respected research centers focused on mental health, investigators at NKI study the causes, treatment, prevention, and rehabilitation of severe and persistent mental illnesses. As an OMH Research Facility, founded in 1952, NKI has earned a reputation for its landmark contributions in psychiatric research, especially in the areas of psychopharmacological treatments for schizophrenia and major mood disorders, dementia research, clinical trials methodology, neuroimaging, therapeutic drug monitoring, and the application of computer technology to mental health services.
The Clinical Laboratory at NKI is a full service clinical laboratory, performing much of the routine lab work for OMH. Specimens are collected at each facility, pre-processed, and transported to the Clinical Laboratory.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology;
OR
Minimum of 90 semester hours or equivalent in an accredited college or university and the successful completion of a course of training of at least 12 months in a school of medical technology approved by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association;
OR
Bachelor's degree in one of the Chemical, Physical, or Biological Sciences and one year of training and/or experience in medical technology;
OR
Any combination of academic study and training and/or experience outlined in Section 58 of Title 10 of the New York State Public Health Law as referenced in the New York State Codes, Rules, and Regulations (NYCRR).
All candidates who meet the minimum qualifications must possess a valid New York State license, issued by the New York State Education Department, Office of the Professions, as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist.

Independently process urine specimens for both regulated and non-regulated testing
Accurately scan and image all custody and control forms
Discard negative specimens in compliance with lab protocols
Maintain working knowledge of the QTN Lab Information System
Follow company policies, lab safety guidelines, and supervisor instructions
Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent required
Prior laboratory or specimen handling experience preferred
Strong computer literacy and attention to detail

Your Profile:
* Bachelor's degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, or a related field. An advanced degree or relevant certification (e.g., ASCP, AMT) is a plus. Must have NY State CLS License.
* Extensive experience in a clinical laboratory setting, with a strong understanding of laboratory operations and quality assurance processes.
* Proven ability to perform complex laboratory tests and analyses, with expertise in specific areas of medical technology.

Complete assigned proficiency and competency assessments
Maintain sufficient testing supplies in work area, including ordering if directed by lead.
Consistently generate and review pending logs
Enters Patient Safety Intelligence (PSI) as required.
Participates in the training of new medical technologists/residents at the direction of seniors and lead technologists.
Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a NYSDOH Licensed as a Certified Clinical Laboratory Technologist.
Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Laboratory Technology from a program registered by the NYS Department of Education or Bachelor's Degree in the major of biology, chemistry or physical sciences from an accredited college or university or education requirement grandfathered by the NYSOP.

As assigned, assists Pathologists by grossing biopsy specimens.

The Position
The Laboratory QA/QC Specialist is a member of the Water Quality Team, based out of the Westchester office. This position will assist with quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) tasks, help maintain compliance with New York Environmental Laboratory Approval Program (NY ELAP) accreditation standards and provide organizational support for laboratory operations. While this role may involve some analytical work, the primary focus is on carrying out QA/QC tasks, ensuring data integrity, and supporting day-to-day laboratory functions under the guidance of the Laboratory Manager.
Types of lab analyses currently conducted include, but are not limited to, pathogen indicator bacteria, nutrients, total suspended solids, chlorophyll-a, and microbial source tracking/eDNA (qPCR).
The Laboratory QAQC Specialist reports to the Laboratory Manager and is based out of our Westchester office in Larchmont, NY. This position requires in-office attendance 4-5 days per week.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist with maintaining laboratory quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) systems to support compliance with NY ELAP accreditation requirements.
Perform data entry checks, review QC results, and flag any potential issues to the Laboratory Manager.
Carry out routine QA checks on calibration records, logbooks, and analytical results.
Conduct calibration of laboratory equipment and thermometers as required.
Perform and document daily temperature checks of freezers, refrigerators, incubators, and ovens.
Monitor and track equipment maintenance schedules to ensure services are completed on schedule.
Prepare and maintain reagent stocks and chemical solutions following established procedures.
Track and manage laboratory inventory.
Perform general laboratory housekeeping to ensure a clean, safe and organized workspace.
Provide technical support to laboratory staff as needed, including occasional assistance with water quality analyses.
Assist in data QA/QC, storage and online posting for the water monitoring programs.

Strong organizational skills for managing documentation, inventories, and maintenance schedules.
Familiarity with environmental field equipment such as multiparameter sondes, and ability to assist with calibration and maintenance.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel or similar tools for data entry, review, and QA checks.
Comfort working in fast paced environment and on multiple projects simultaneously.

Terms & Compensation
This is a grant driven, at-will, full-time, salaried, exempt position, with a salary range of $50,000 to $60,000 annually, commensurate with skills and experience.
