Axia's full-service, state-of-the-art laboratory performs anatomic pathology, clinical pathology, and molecular (DNA-based) testing. The Cytotechnologist provides professional services, including interpretation of Pap tests, slide preparations, proficiency testing, quality control and other functions and is a key member of our laboratory team, helping Axia to provide a full-scope of services to Axia Women's Health patients.

Interprets physician notes and obtains clarification when information is missing or contradictive.
Receives, accesses, or rejects specimens by following standard operating procedures (SOP's).
Determines specimen adequacy for all cytology and histology samples.
Processes specimens and evaluates control slides to ensure proper staining patterns. Follows the College of American Pathologist (CAP) requirements for performing proficiency testing and reporting results, and completes all procedures expected in the scheduled time without loss of work quality.
Grosses, processes, embeds, cuts, stains, special stains, IHC, recuts, and coverslips all cytological and surgical specimens received into the anatomic pathology laboratory.
Examines and evaluates cell samples for normal cell patterns, non-malignant, or benign conditions that might exist, such as microorganisms, therapeutic change inflammation, repair and hyperplastic changes, and determines severity and cell type of abnormalities, and, if needed, provides criteria to identify origin and makes appropriate recommendations on report.
Reviews cases at the microscope and discusses diagnostic criteria with pathologists, senior cytotechnologists, or other cytotechnologists as needed.
Performs data entry of case information into the appropriate computer system, ensuring that all identifying information is accurate and in the appropriate format; uses recognized terminology to document and transmit diagnosis/findings in the laboratory information system.
Documents daily, weekly, and monthly workloads, and performs and documents daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual maintenance.
Validate equipment, detection kits, antibody lots, blockers, inhibitors, control tissue and new antibodies before use on any specimen.
Checks and monitors pH of solutions, temperatures, and room humidity on a regular basis by documenting the value for each on the proper chart/log.
Prepare stock reagents for use on manual and automated processes.
Performs calibration of equipment as required.
Participates in laboratory quality management functions.

The student LA will help students taking the course through their laboratory work, including problem solving, equipment demonstration, troubleshooting, and preparation. Job Description
Essential Functions:
Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.
Properly processes specimens following established protocols for proper patient identification and labelling. Specimen collection via phlebotomy and venipuncture may be required at specific hospital locations as needed.
Determines acceptability of specimens by performing visual inspections, including acceptable QC recognition of abnormal/unusual results. Documents unacceptable specimens according to appropriate policy. Communicates specimen requirements to appropriate personnel. Reports, documents, and communicates to appropriate personnel critical values per hospital policy.
Completes reports and maintains records and documentation of test results by entering and verifying data into the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
Operates analytical equipment for medical laboratory tests. Monitors, cleans, calibrates and maintains devices and instruments according to manufacturer specifications and relevant standards. Troubleshoots malfunctions and initiates corrective action. Keeps accurate records of all equipment checks and maintenance actions performed.
Adheres to established quality control policies and procedures to ensure the accuracy and validity of laboratory results. Recognizes factors that affect measurements and takes appropriate action according to protocol. Follows QC protocols for all testing before releasing results. Documents quality control results in compliance with regulatory agencies. Participates in Proficiency testing program.
Maintains clinical competency by annually fulfilling regulatory requirements. Participates in hospital/laboratory in-services for educational purposes as well as to comply with accrediting agency regulations.
Other laboratory technician duties as assigned by the lead, supervisor or manager, including: the provision of technical education and training to other technicians and students if requested in order to meet the criteria established by the student's institution.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Education: Associate's Degree required in related field of Science, preferably from an accredited school of Medical Laboratory Technology or completion of Military Medical Laboratory specialist training AND Experience: Prior training in a laboratory setting (student training accepted).

Job Description
Location: Iraq
The Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) is responsible to provide comprehensive health services to DOS, DOD, and contractor personnel stationed in Iraq. The MLT performs lab tests and procedures, mostly comprising of microscopic, bacteriological, hematologic, immunologic, and chemical diagnostic analyses on samples of tissue, blood, urine, stool, synovial fluid and semen. The MLT looks for clues to the absence, presence, and extent of the causes and progression of diseases through accurate and efficient lab tests.
Key Responsibilities:
Collect and process biological specimens for laboratory testing.
Conduct routine and specialized tests in hematology, microbiology, chemistry, and blood bank.
Maintain laboratory equipment and troubleshoot any technical issues.
Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean laboratory environment.
Record and report test results accurately and in a timely manner.
Collaborate with pathologists and other medical staff to interpret results and ensure quality patient care.
Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
Actively participates in Mass Casualty exercises and events.
Completes required organizational compliance education, including assigned requirements that are client-specified, for Joint Commission Healthcare Staffing Services certification or other regulatory bodies.

Qualifications
Basic Requirements/Certifications:
Minimum of 3 years recent experience as Medical Laboratory Technician including 6 months within the last year.
Certified as a medical laboratory technician through the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), the American Medical Technologists (AMT), the National Credentialing Agency for Laboratory Personnel (NCALP) or the Board of Registry of the American Association of Bioanalysis (AAB).
Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Must be able to read, write and speak English to effectively communicate.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
Experience on a military site working as a government subcontractor or prime contractor is preferred.
Education Required:
Associate's degree in medical laboratory technology or related field.
Physical Requirements:
Must meet pre-deployment physical requirements.
Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods.
May require bending, stooping, and lifting to 25 lbs.
Other Special Qualifications:
US Citizen or Permanent Resident Card is required.
Valid US Passport with at least 18 months before expiration date. Must maintain a current passport during your stay in Iraq.
Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance, specifically an MRPT. Applicants with current clearances are preferred.
Must be able to relocate to Iraq for the duration of the project.
Must be able to read, write, and speak English to effectively communicate.

Position Summary:
As a Laboratory Associate at Discovery Life Sciences, you will play a pivotal role in our mission by contributing to the immunohistochemical staining of tissue samples and providing essential support to our Project Managers throughout various projects. This position requires a high level of scientific proficiency, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Position Qualifications (Education, Skills, Experience):
* Associate degree or higher in Life Sciences or related field.
* Familiarity with general laboratory equipment.
* Experience in immunohistochemistry (IHC) is preferred but not required.
* Background or coursework in Pathology/Histology is a plus.
* Strong multitasking skills and the ability to maintain organized records.

Compensation and Benefits:
Discovery Life Sciences is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices, and we strive to provide employees with total compensation packages that are market competitive. For this role, the anticipated base pay range is $22.50-$24 per hour. The exact base pay offered for this role will depend on various factors, including but not limited to the candidate's location, qualifications, skills, and experience. Salary:
Our lab assistant is responsible for supporting laboratory operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Must have basic knowledge of laboratory safety procedures and policies to ensure safety.
Follow lab safety standards by using laboratory safety guidelines, using proper personal protection equipment, and maintaining laboratory cleanliness.
Document product specifications, SDSs, testing SOPs, and product formulations as directed.
Must know basic laboratory techniques and standard laboratory working environment equipment.
Maintain and calibrate lab equipment and schedule service calls as needed
Clean and sterilize instruments, glassware, and equipment.
Ensure laboratory consumables and other supplies are maintained in stock
