Assist with performing proficiency testing for each test to include corrective action when necessary. Develop and foster collaboration among clinical departments and affiliated services to ensure an integrated and coordinated approach to providing laboratory services and resolution of customer complaints or problems. Coordinate and perform all pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic laboratory activities in collaboration with the Laboratory Director and Technical Consultant Assist with patient care and other activities within the scope of state license and/or regulations. JOB FUNCTIONS Homogenizes samples following standard protocols. Assists with cleaning laboratory carts, glassware, racks. Maintains cleanliness of laboratory work surfaces. What You'll Do: * Perform meticulous preparation of metal samples (cutting, grinding, polishing) for various tests. * Operate and maintain Optical Emission Spectrometers (OES) and other analytical equipment to determine the chemical composition of raw materials and finished castings. * Conduct routine maintenance and calibration checks on all lab equipment to ensure accuracy. * Execute Tensile and Hardness Tests (e.g., Brinell, Rockwell) on cast metal samples to confirm mechanical properties meet specifications. * Record, analyze, and interpret test results, promptly reporting any deviations or non-conformances to the Quality and Production teams. * Perform microscopic evaluation of metal structure to assess nodularity and metallographic structure. * Maintain accurate and detailed records of all tests, analyses, and material certifications. * Assist in maintaining the laboratory's quality management system, adhering to ISO 9001 standards and internal safety protocols. * Support problem-solving initiatives related to material quality and process control. What We're Looking For: * An Associate's degree in Chemistry, Metallurgy, Material Science, or a related technical field is preferred, but equivalent practical experience will be considered. * 1-3 years of experience working in a quality control lab, preferably within a manufacturing, metals, or foundry environment. * Proven experience operating and troubleshooting Spectrometers (OES). * Proficiency in performing standard mechanical property tests (Tensile, Hardness). * Strong math and analytical skills with the ability to interpret technical specifications and data. * Familiarity with lab safety procedures and handling of chemicals and hot materials. * Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. * Strong communication and teamwork skills. * Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities: The Materials Lab Technician will be primarily responsible for performing tests and experiments to support the determination of conformance of materials and processes to customer and general specifications. This will include but not be limited to: Material Element Analysis - Perform analysis of metal chemistry using various methods including combustion (carbon and sulphur analysis) and spectrometry. Maintain accurate analysis records. Hardness Testing - Perform routine analysis using Rockwell, Superficial, and microhardness machines for analysis of material mechanical properties.
