The Licensed Clinical Social Worker is responsible for obtaining and synthesizing all bio-psycho-social information to appropriately assess, treat and provide a safe discharge plan for patients. The Licensed Clinical Social Worker is involved with assessment, counseling, group therapy, crisis intervention, case management, advocacy and family education as well as discharge planning and referral. Floats to all mental health units as assigned, including the Mental Health Emergency Department, Tele-health and the Adult Partial Program.
PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

2. Conducts psychosocial interviews of patients, their families, and collateral resources to determine presenting issues, potential causes and how these issues have impacted their functioning and health.
3. Utilizes clinical skills to draw from all available information to form a clinical assessment that is both need and strength based.
4. Synthesizes information to ensure that all risk factors, acuity, and all treatment options have been considered.
5. Effectively utilizes professional skills and insight to work with patients that are in acute psychological crisis and may display one or more of the following: a lack family support, a lack of community provider network, minimal insight into their situation, or significant deficits in coping with their illness leading to poor follow-through.
6. Provides consultation to colleagues and makes recommendations to the treatment team regarding the appropriate course of action/treatment.
7. Establishes an interdisciplinary psychosocial treatment plan including both short-term and long-term goals.
8. Promotes and teaches patients ways to cope with stressful situations while striving for practical and manageable solutions.
9. Engages in discharge planning that identifies patients needs; obtains adequate resources for patient discharge; and, provides for a safe post-hospital plan.
10. Facilitates group therapy utilizing various counseling approaches that are appropriate for the situation.
11. Supervises Masters Social Worker (MSW) students.
12. Utilizes Trauma Informed Care Principles.
13. Maintains patient medical records.
14. Follows all rules, regulations, laws and standards of oversight agencies; follows all policy and procedures as outlined by Bryan Health.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Masters Degree in Social Work (MSW) required. Current licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) required. Prior acute care psychiatric experience with the client population to be served (adult/youth) preferred.

A Brief Overview

The Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) employs nearly 2,300 team members operating nine institutions statewide, which house approximately 5,200 inmates. DUTIES:
Conduct comprehensive assessments and provide discharge planning and reentry assistance primarily to inmates with high needs, and particularly to inmates who have an identified serious mental illness, substance abuse diagnoses, sex offenses and/or inmates with chronic medical conditions. Serve as a liaison with community providers, families and state and federal assistance programs. Provide information/education about resources to other inmates and staff throughout NDCS. Participate on behavioral health interdisciplinary team to coordinate care and create individualized treatment plans. Opportunity to supervise social work interns. Obtain/maintain full certification as a Certified Master Social Worker. Minimum Qualifications:
Certified Master Social Worker: Masters degree in social work and two years of Master Social Worker experience.

Legal Requirements: Certification as a Master Social Worker by the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services is required in accordance with Neb. Rev. Stat. §38-2128.
Other: Proof of licensure and transcripts required upon acceptance of job offer. While under supervision, provides assessment and coordination of child abuse/neglect cases. • Assesses psychosocial dynamics. • Communicates with medical and nursing personnel regarding assessment and plan. • Facilitates referral and provides ongoing communication with CPS, law enforcement, and county attorney's office. • Documents pertinent information and completes all reports in a timely fashion. • Prepares and presents cases to the Children's Advocacy Team. Attends team meetings on an as needed basis.
Provides on-call services for Social Work Department as required as a provisionally licensed Social Worker. • Assists with all Trauma Cases in the Emergency Department as a crucial team member. • Responds to calls in a timely manner. • Performs on-call duties in a professional manner.
Covers for Social Work colleagues in their absence, and arranges for coverage of social work responsibilities when absent. • Communicates with co-workers regarding coverage needs.
Provides consultation/interventions regarding legal issues such as determining guardianship and assisting with adoption cases. • Consults with Compliance Officer/Legal Counsel as necessary • Provides consultation related to State Wards in determining who has legal authority to consent to treat and release information
Based on departmental/organizational need may be required to participate in Transplant program functions.
The in-patient or SPC social workers may be required to participate in Transplant program functions, Social Work role includes: • Pre and Post-transplant psychosocial assessment of patients and families • Present psychosocial information to the selection committee • Provide transplant program patients and families specific resource information • Confirm resources and discharge plans with team and patients/families
Education Qualifications
Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in Social Work Required
