Position Overview: The M.A. is assigned to a specific floor of the facility and given tasks related to that floor. The M.A., under the direction of the Team Leader and/or Nurse Manager, utilizes the computer to enter and retrieve data from RESource, Quest computer and email. Communicates care rendered, provides assistance to physicians and clinical staff in order that patient care is accommodated, stock is maintained, and the environment is maintained in a clean, orderly manner. Duties and Responsibilities: Assist in morning monitoring (blood drawing, chaperoning, RESource data input) Setting up and assisting in retrievals, including pre-op vital signs. Setting up and assisting in transfers, including giving discharge instructions. Cleaning rooms (procedure and dressing room) after procedures. (Empty garbage bins during day if needed, otherwise at end of day place outside of procedure rooms). Clean and sterilize equipment, soak ultrasound probe. Restock procedure rooms, dressing room and pt. bathroom as needed, give weekly list to Team Leader or designee by Thursday of what needs to be ordered. (Must verbally tell her if something is needed immediately). Laundry, place by backdoor end of day on Monday. Unpack and distribute laundry when it arrives. Red bag, when full package for pickup. Weekly log (O2, suction check, refridgerator, eye wash stations) Restock refrigerator in Recovery Area. Prep charts for next day's cases, including printing RESource stim report. (On Friday's, prep charts for weekend and Monday) Make copies of forms as needed for first floor. When finished downstairs, come upstairs to assist on second floor: Filing Mailing, making packets, etc. Prepping charts Weekly: Eye wash stations on first floor, Sweep then Sterile mopping of proc. Rooms, Sterilizer maintenance, Empty sharps containers. Assist in morning monitoring (blood drawing, chaperoning, etc) Enter monitoring stim sheets into RESource. Assisting MD with procedures (IUI's, saline sono's, pregnancy scans, PE's, etc) Alert lab staff if bloods drawn after pick-up. Bloods drawn after 1:30 to be refrigerated and sent down next day. Filing Vital signs on new patients, pre-op patients and new donors with physical exam. Pregnancy reports. Restock exam rooms and bathrooms as needed. Prep charts for the next day. (On Friday's prep charts for weekend and Monday upstairs). End of day Turn off ultrasound machine and shut down exam rooms not still being used. Wipe down counters and exam table with water/alcohol mixture. Bring all ready samples out to specimen boxes with cool pack. Soak ultrasound probes for 10 minutes. Empty, clean and sterilize speculums, etc. Empty red bags. Empty laundry in exam rooms as needed. Weekly: Change ultrasound probe soaking solution, Pap letters, Eye wash stations, Inventory, Sterilizer testing, Empty sharps containers. This position is full-time and requires being onsite at 43 Yawpo Avenue, Suite 6, Oakland, NJ 07436. Schedule: Monday through Friday, no weekends, 7:30AM to 4:30 PM. Compensation: $20.00 to $22.00 per hour, dependent on experience. Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, Paid Time Off (1 week PTO, 5 days sick time) What you'll do: Weekly Schedule: Interview patients and document basic medical history Organize and schedule appointments Update and file medical records and insurance reports Arrange hospital admissions and laboratory services Check with patients and type up patients' charts Assist during medical examinations Produce and distribute correspondence memos, letters, faxes and forms Handle receivable and payable accounts and keep financial records Prepare and clean treatment rooms and medical instruments Other administrative duties as needed Provide patient-centric service and care to all patients Work independently and collaboratively with the Practice Manager to serve as a seamless link between patients, practice staff, and physicians to ensure optimal experience for all patients and practice providers. Assist in addressing patient concerns and requests through patient triage, collecting pertinent information to escalate to the provider team as necessary Prepare charts for Cardiologist - Prepare chart sections in Athena EMR at least 24 hours before the visit with the following; but not limited to: Reason for visit, Patient medication reconciliation, current pharmacy information, lab test results, Imaging testing results. Any and all other pertinent medical information necessary for the care. Patient Intake: Welcome all patients with kindness and compassion. Execute intake checklist [as defined by practice], perform trained documentation workflows in AthenaHealth EMR Perform and document in-clinic testing and imaging Manage all aspects of patient prescription needs, including: placing orders, coordinating care with pharmacies, answering patient questions & managing renewal requests Additional care coordination responsibilities as requested and trained by the Provider and Director of Imaging Svcs Other duties as assigned What you'll need: A minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience in a healthcare office is preferred. EKG Certification preferred. Strong attention to detail, and the ability to work independently Excellent communication (verbal and written), clinical and interpersonal skills. Demonstrates strong work ethic and reliability (i.e. attendance and punctuality) Ability to create and sustain meaningful patient experiences. The ability to quickly resolve issues and think outside the box Knowledge of medical terminology. Must be able to efficiently communicate with patients and providers using appropriate language. Proficiency in MS Office and patient management software Certification as a Medical Assistant in good standing preferred Knowledge and use of EHRs (Athena experience is a plus!)
