Under the supervision of the Surgical Supervisor, this position assists with the peri-operative care in a technical support staff function. Nature and Scope: serves a patient population of Neonatal, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult, and Geriatric.
This position works with and adapts to the different needs and requests of the management staff, circulating nurse, anesthesiologists, and surgeons.
This position assists the circulating nurse in the set-up and breakdown of equipment required before, during, and after each procedure, and reports any equipment malfunctions to the circulating nurse or Surgical Supervisor. This position sets up (but does not operate) the following equipment: anesthesia machine, monitoring equipment, bovie machine, suctions, craniotomy table, ortho tables, microscopes, tanks, and operating lights, and other related equipment.
It is common to encounter potential hazards in the healthcare environment. Some of these hazards could include, but are not limited to: radiation, toxic chemicals, biological hazards, heat, noise, dust and stress. Renown Health has a Safety Management Program in place that addresses these issues.

A Day in the Life

Draw medications for injections;

Maintain and clean patient exam rooms between patients to ensure patients' comfort and safety according to clinic protocols and in compliance with infection control standards;
Address and resolve patient messages and/or phone calls promptly and document conversation in patient's electronic medical record;
Authorize prescription refills as directed by the physician and in accordance with regulatory requirements and ROC protocols.

Job Responsibilities, but are not limited to:
· Greet customers
· Perform check-in duties for all services
· Accept payment on the Point of Sale, Cashiering

Job Requirements:

Certification:

POSITION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Patient Care
Works in conjunction with the entire clinic staff to provide a patient centered care team with effective communication being the common denominator.
Assists the physicians and providers by collecting patient vital signs and other pertinent data.
Escorts the patients to exam rooms, takes weight and vital signs and assists in determining medical problem.
Obtains brief medical history to include age, date of birth, chief complaint, current medications with dosage and allergies.
Assists physicians/providers with minor diagnostic procedures and treatments.
Sterilization and set up of instruments.
Prepares examination rooms and instruments.
Stocks supplies.
Effectively provides explanations and educates patient's families regarding treatments and interventions.
Schedules patients for testing procedures. Obtains test results and ensures that lab reports, x-rays and other Information is in the medical record prior to the appointment and scanned in the medical record according to office guidelines.
Authorizes and faxes to pharmacy requests for refills per provider instruction.
Ensures routine medical office duties are completed as assigned, to include, emptying waste baskets, cleaning and disinfecting exam room counters and exam tables, ordering medical supplies, equipment controls - daily, weekly, and monthly.
Ensures that all aspects of patient care and observations are documented, accurately and timely.
Communication
Answers telephones, routes callers, takes messages and provides routine information to callers.
Returns Phone calls in a timely manner.
Relays messages to appropriate staff members through In Basket of EMR.
Efficient with working in EMR and the in Basket within EMR.
