The Medical Assistant is the first point of contact for patient care. Responsible for administrative duties in addition to patient care. Amentum is seeking a Temporary Medical Assistant to join our team in Hawthorne, Nevada to support the Hawthorne Army Depot. The Temporary Medical Assistant will be a key staff member at the on-site medical clinic. Typical functions include tracking of employee physicals, appointment scheduling, health records maintenance, administer minor first-aid, and performing functions in accordance with the alcohol and drug program. Typical Responsibilities Include:
* Perform and provide minor first aid such as caring for minor cuts, abrasions, lacerations, and burns; recognizing and administering first aid for shock, and heat stroke.
* Conducts assessments and evaluations of injury or ailment. Advise management, Supervising Physician, private physician, or the employee about the circumstances of the injury. Furnish medical history as appropriate.

GENERAL PURPOSE:
Under the general direction of the Department Manager, Physician, and/or Mid-level Provider, the Medical Assistant supports both front and back office clinical processes as needed. Responsibilities include preparing patients for examinations and procedures, sterilizing reusable instruments, and ensuring compliance with OSHA and state regulations. The Medical Assistant also assists with front desk duties, coordinating patient intake paperwork to ensure smooth clinic flow.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Verify patient information by interviewing patients, recording medical history, and confirming the purpose of the visit
Prepare patients for examinations by performing preliminary physical tests such as measuring blood pressure, weight, and temperature
Administer injections and medications as directed by the physician
Assist with front desk activities as needed to support clinic operations
Participate actively in quality improvement efforts and support clinical teams
Ability to stand or walk for up to 12 hours and lift/move patients when necessary
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
High School diploma or GED
Completion of a Medical Assistant program
Minimum two years' experience preferred in family medicine or pediatric clinic
CMA or RMA certification strongly preferred
Licensed through the Division of Public and Behavioral Health as an Office Laboratory Assistant

About the role:

You will report to the Plasma Center Manager and will perform as a plasma donor screener and perform phlebotomy to support plasma center operations.
How you will contribute:
* You will answer phones, and greet and focus on our donors, while ensuring the safety of donors and our team.
* You will screen new and repeat donors and take and record donor vital signs and finger stick results.
* You will use our Donor Information System, prepare donor charts, maintain accurate records, and coordinate donor compensation.
* You will help identify operational opportunities for continuous improvement and initiate changes to center processes using company approved procedures.
* You will be there for our donors, which includes working a variety of shifts, Saturdays and Sundays, and holidays.
What you bring to Takeda:
* High school diploma or equivalent
* Ability to walk and/or stand for the entire work shift

Medical Assistant, Bilingual Core to the ArchWell Health approach is to have a robust clinical care team focused on the needs of our members. Care teams are responsible for delivering excellent and compassionate primary care and coordinating the care of our members with the broader healthcare delivery system. The Medical Assistant (MA) is a critical role to support the PCP day-to-day and ensure efficiency in the care provided to patients. MAs will work closely and collaboratively with their teammates to greet and room ArchWell Health members. S/he will be expected to assist in assessing patient's health conditions, including performing routine diagnostic testing during appointments.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Conduct intake with patients, measuring and recording vital signs, patient interview, and medical history; perform examinations and routine screenings, ensuring patients are informed and all questions and concerns are addressed for each procedure
Critically listen and engage with patients throughout appointment, ensuring needs and/or changing in patient conditions are reported to PCP, specialists, and/or other clinical personnel
Perform all tasks with a hyper focus on patient experience, including processing of patient phone messages, including: returning calls; routing calls to other team members as appropriate; calling patients to obtain and relay pertinent information for the physician
Change dressings, apply bandages, remove sutures and other first aid procedures; use CPR skills when necessary, all under physician supervision
Ensure compliance with OSHA safety standards and conduct accurate, legal, and ethical documentation at all times
Provide health coaching to a defined group of patients to support healthy lifestyle choices; follows up with coached patients via weekly calls
Required Skills/Abilities:
Must possess a high degree of emotional intelligence and integrity, driven and focused work ethic

Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent education (GED) required

A minimum of 1 year work experience as a Medical Assistant
6+ months' phlebotomy experience is highly desired
Graduation from a nationally accredited Medical Assistant program OR comparable healthcare vocational training (i.e. foreign-trained physician, paramedic, etc.) required
BLS for Healthcare Providers required
EClinicalWorks or similar EMR experience
Experience working with geriatric patients is a plus
