As a Professional Mentor in the Friends of the Children-Charlotte (FOTC) department, you will teach youth important life skills such as avoiding risky behavior, attaining skills for safety and independence, regulating school attendance, and more, according to our National program model. A typical day as a Professional Mentor will include providing long-term mentorship to 8-12 youth in the school, home, and community setting for 16 hours/month; building relationships with caregivers and partners according to our 2 generational approach to provide resources and referrals for the whole family; self-managing and ensuring documentation of goal-focused outings, hours served, contacts with families, teachers, youth, and others. As a Professional Mentor, your schedule will be non-traditional, but typically around 11 am-7 pm, with some Saturdays and evenings. Mentors serve their youth in person in the community with a radius of 30 miles in Charlotte and surrounding. What does this position offer?     Student Accounts Counselor Division: Division of Business & Finance Department: Accounts Receivable Reports to: Director of Student Accounts Position Summary The Student Accounts Counselor is responsible for developing and implementing in-house collection processes and in-house payment to serve as an intermediary step between normal billing/payment processes and the process of sending student accounts to third-party collection agencies, with an overall emphasis on creating a controlled and monitored collections process that will lead to the reduction of bad debt related to past due student account. Essential Duties & Responsibilities The results you will deliver each day that matter most! • Send notifications of outstanding balances each semester after final Financial Aid funds have been applied. • Send secondary billing notices, based on time-framed determined by Bursar. • Create student payment plan options, based on criteria determined by Bursar. • Create, implement and manage balance dispute process. • Monitor account balances and remove holds based on criteria determined by Bursar. • Oversees posting of payments made to collection agencies to student accounts. • Generate lists for posting collection fee charges to student accounts as well as to submit accounts with outstanding balances to collection agencies. • Review accounts reports for activity submitted to collection agencies. • Report outsourced collection results on a monthly basis. •Report in-house collection and payment plan results on a monthly basis. • Communicate with Financial Aid Officer(s) on student accounts. • Reconcile bookstore credits to the student account. • Work with Veterans Services regarding student military benefits and payments. • Evening and weekend hours required as needed to meet departmental demands. • Perform other related duties and tasks as assigned or required.
