You would be writing agenda-setting stories covering the Trump White House - with a broad emphasis on the administration's economic priorities and choices and the global implications of those moves, but ranging far beyond at will. We're looking for someone who has a track record of sourcing up in and beyond the White House and/or federal agencies and a keen eye for the next big policy and political story. You'll be a crucial member of our editorial team, contributing to Semafor's daily report as well as our Principals newsletter - a must-read inside and outside Washington for insights into its policy and politics - and working with our business reporters. This is a high-profile role that will also be asked to play a major role in our live journalism business, moderating and helping with editorial planning and recruiting guests for event tentpoles that include our annual World Economy Summit. We're looking for a versatile reporter who has a proven record of thinking beyond the story of the day, who can spot and explain bigger themes, and has the drive necessary to thrive in a new, ambitious environment. What Makes You Qualified * 4 or more years of relevant experience covering Washington. * Proven ability to source deeply in complicated organizations and deliver stories that blend insider knowledge with authoritative writing. * Proven understanding and ability to explain complex financial and economic stories. * Passion for, and experience with, moderation of live interviews. * Experience in scrappy and/or dynamic environments and willingness to jump in wherever needed to help the team succeed. * A passion for news in all its forms.
