Currently we have an 11a-11p shift we would like to staff 7 days a week. There are permanent providers on the schedule for a portion of the month. Lansing ED is single doctor covered from 2a until 8a 7 days a week. We have a staggered start schedule with maximum coverage for doctors in the afternoon with 3 doctors on duty from 2p-6p which is our busiest time. There is one APP shift daily from 11a-11p. We do have Emergency medicine residents averaging two shifts a day at varied times. There would be no supervision requirements for resident cases those are handled by the doctors. Key Responsibilities
NursePractitioners provide primary and/or consultative professional care in a variety of care settings. The NursePractitioner will function in collaboration with physicians according to a Collaboration Arrangement. The NursePractitioner practice will focus on caring for geriatric and seriously ill populations to assist patients and families with comfort and quality of life.
In this role you will be responsible for:
Conducting medical evaluations of predominantly elderly, frail, seriously ill patients in their home environment
Determining follow up assessments according to patient need and best practice guidelines
Communicating significant findings, problems, and changes in condition or environment to the clinical coordinator, the physician, family, facility and other personnel involved with patient care
Assessing health status by obtaining relevant health and medical history.
Performing a physical exam based upon the age and patient history as per the Standard Care Arrangement with a collaborating physician
Ordering, interpreting and evaluating laboratory tests and other diagnostic studies to assess patient's clinical problems and health care needs
Performing diagnostic of therapeutic interventions consistent with certification, law and state medical privileges
Prescribing and monitoring medications as allowed by prescriptive authority through the appropriate State Board Agency
Developing a treatment plan in collaboration with the patient and caregivers
Referring patients to physicians as appropriate for consultation or for specialized health resources and treatment
Ensuring continuity of care by serving as a liaison between patient and other members of the multidisciplinary care team or with other specialty areas
Providing patients and families an understanding of the diagnosis and disease progression while decreasing unnecessary emergency room and hospital visits
Holding case conferences with families when appropriate to advance the care plan
Meeting minimum productivity requirements based on practice standard.
Required Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited Certificate, Diploma, Associate or Baccalaureate School of Nursing
Master's or doctoral degree as a Board-Certified NursePractitioner
Current State License as a Registered Nurse and NursePractitionerNursing skills as defined by accepted nursing standards
Sit, stand, bend, lift, and move intermittently
Must be able to lift at least 35lbs and bear the weight of an average adult effectively
Current and valid driver's license
Reliable transportation and valid automobile insurance coverage
Demonstrates ability to assess and respond to the needs of patients, families and caregivers in skilled-nursing facility settings
Demonstrates skill in nursing practice, ability to cope with family emotional stress and tolerance of individual lifestyles
Ability to handle multiple priorities, documentation requirements and deadlines
Desired Qualifications
2 years clinical experience in a post-acute or as a NursePractitioner preferred
Experience with geriatric patients preferred.
