Scope and Purpose for Resident Aide/Caregiver
Will be assigned to provide service to a particular resident/group of residents and will assure that all aspects of the residents' Personal Service Plan are implemented. Must assure the resident is treated with dignity and respect, assuring that each resident remains optimally independent.
Resident Aide/Caregiver Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible to assure residents' daily care and service needs are met, including all basic activities of daily living (bathing, grooming, hygiene, toilet assistance, dressing, eating, socializing, participating in activities, etc.)
Assists residents to participate in Life Enrichment Events - may participate directly through leading an activity, assisting the LEC, or assisting residents to attend.
Follows resident service plan for level of assistance and support needed.
Reporting changes in the resident's condition and needs as they occur.
Light housekeeping chores, (including bed making, linen changes, straightening and dusting, trash removal, laundry, etc.)
Uses safe and proper techniques for chemical/cleaning solutions, as well as storage of products, tools, and carts.
Will practice appropriate safe, sanitary hygiene.
Other duties as assigned or as may be necessary to assure that the goals and objectives of this living center are fulfilled

Key Responsibilities
Optimal Care Hospice Aides are paraprofessional members of the hospice interdisciplinary team who work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and perform various services to meet patient personal needs and to promote comfort. The Hospice Aide is responsible for observing the patient, and reporting and documenting observations and care performed. A Hospice Aide works in a manner that promotes quality, continuity, and safety of patient care.
In this role you will be responsible for:
Assisting patients with or performing bed, tub, shower, or sponge baths
Performing skincare
Assisting patients with toileting and oral hygiene
Demonstrating safe techniques in transferring patients with Hoyer lifts, wheelchairs, and gait belts
Demonstrating safe techniques when assisting patients ambulating with walkers, canes and crutches
Providing companionship to patients and caregivers at end-of-life
Supporting patients and caregivers in various duties including but not limited to cooking, cleaning, and buying groceries
Respecting professional boundaries while providing care in facilities and patient homes
Required Qualifications
Must be 18 years of age or older
Completed a minimum of 75 hours of classroom and supervised practical training (Sixteen hours of classroom must be completed prior to a mandatory 16 hours of practical training)
Must hold current certification as a nurse aide and be in good standing on the state nurse aide registry
Sit, stand, bend, lift, and move intermittently. Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs and bear the weight of an average adult effectively
Current and valid driver's license
Reliable transportation and valid automobile insurance coverage
Demonstrated understanding of hospice philosophy, comfortable providing specialized care to the terminally ill in the home or facility
Desired Qualifications
High school diploma or GED

RSA/CNA Qualifications
Resident Services Assistants are selected based on such factors as an empathetic and positive attitude toward caring for frail elderly persons. May be credentialed as Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA); Competency Evaluated Nursing Assistant (CENA); Home Health Aide; other credential or experience which prepares the individual to perform the duties required. Must be able to read, write and carry out directions in English. Must possess maturity and the ability to deal effectively with the emotional, mental, and physical demands of the job. Must be able to pass the state mandated criminal background screening and random drug testing.

What You'll Do in This Role:
As a Resident Care Assistant, you'll play a vital role in enriching the lives of our residents by providing compassionate personal care, supporting daily activities, and offering essential assistance in our assisted living and memory care areas. Your dedication will help create a safe, warm, and nurturing environment where residents feel valued, supported, and at home.
Primary Responsibilities:
* Assist residents with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
* Help residents with mobility, including transferring them from beds to chairs, assisting with walking, and using mobility aids.
* Assist with meal preparation, serving, and feeding, ensuring residents receive proper nutrition and hydration according to their dietary needs and preferences.
* Provide companionship and emotional support to residents, engaging in conversation, recreational activities, and social interactions.
* Help residents maintain a clean and organized living environment, including making beds, tidying rooms, and doing light housekeeping tasks.
* Escort residents to appointments, activities, and outings as needed.
* Follow established care plans and protocols for each resident, ensuring individualized care and attention.
What You'll Need:
* Must be 18 years of age or older
* Previous experience in a healthcare setting and caregiver role, preferred.
* Position requires the ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 35 pounds without assistance.
* Previous working knowledge of Electronic Medication Administration Records (EMAR) system, preferred.
