Summary/Objective: The Equipment Operator safely operates various pieces of heavy equipment in the mining and production process of aggregates. Essential Functions: Operate equipment (excavator, backhoe, dozer and other heavy equipment) to push, pull, lift, stack, tier or transport bulk materials to and from mine site, storage or processing areas, feed conveyors, hoppers or chutes, and load trucks or railcars. Maintain separate piles of different types of material by understanding the differences between the types of material and reading the site plan. Maintain proper levels of aggregates and raw material, including keeping the hoppers full of aggregates. Notify manager of impending shortages on a timely basis. Stock pile excess raw material to be processed and break up large rocks to a manageable size as needed. Keep equipment and plant site clean at all times. Perform all pre and post-trip inspections and complete daily inspection reports. Operate vehicles and equipment in a safe manner. Follow proper procedures and complete required documentation if an accident or injury occurs. Notify manager or Safety Department as required. Understand and comply with all safety rules set forth by the company and governmental regulatory agencies. Notify manager and the Safety Manager immediately of any potential or current safety problems. Wear required PPE. Follow all environmental regulations and clean up any excess material that could cause environmental problems. Lock and secure assigned equipment daily at the end of the shift or as otherwise required, including removing keys from assigned equipment daily. Other duties as assigned. Non-Essential Functions: Perform miscellaneous duties and outside labor as requested, which may include, but not limited to, cleaning up around the plant, sweeping, shoveling, moving wheelbarrows, picking up equipment or supplies. The ideal candidate has at least three (3) years of experience operating excavators in site development, utility installation, or large-scale excavation projects. The rolling equipment operator is accountable for the safe and efficient operation of the equipment, and performing other warehouse functions that require the use of rolling equipment or material handling equipment. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. * Picks carton and loose stock from back-up rack locations and applies proper labels and moves product to assigned staging area for replenishment and full case pick * Loads cartons on conveyor and/or drop zone * Places product in designated picking location * Loads cartons onto full case induction line * Places full pallet and partial pallet picks in designated areas * Inspects cartons for damage and corrects orders that are rejected at the manifest scale * Maintains various quality control reports that monitor picking accuracy by picker * Retrieves books from the rack storage area to complete the order * Ensures that orders are complete and counts verified before loading trucks * Stages carton at dock locations for outgoing carriers * Inspects cartons for damage caused during internal handling * Ensures cartons contain proper labeling, are securely packed, and proper documentation has been applied before shipping * Ensures the accuracy of all shipping documents * Assures the shipping counts match picking documents and bill of lading. * Assists in resolving any discrepancies. * Assists in loading and unloading trucks as required * Keeps appropriate records and reports to guarantee tight inventory control and security are maintained. * Assists in cycle counts. * Ensures proper carton labels and pallet ID's are generated and affixed. * Maintains a clean, neat, and orderly work area. * Conducts operations in a manner that promotes safety. * Completes certification as a rolling equipment operator. * Enforces established safety, health, and housekeeping policies and procedures in order to minimize injuries, loss of production time, and damage * Conforms to all company policies and procedures (Employee Handbook) * Complies with all environmental, health, and safety requirements Hours of work: Sunday night - Thursday night from 9:00 p.m. - 5:00 a.m., with mandatory overtime as needed. Mathematical Skills: Ability to; add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Other skills and abilities: Computer skills to include basic keyboarding and working knowledge of WMS.
