Overview
We are looking to hire entry-level Machine Operators with no prior experience.
These positions involve running machines that make cutting tools for the label and envelope industry.
The work is very hands-on and requires basic computer and math skills.
Position Type + Hours
This is a permanent full-time position, 40+ hours per week.
Hours of work are Monday - Friday, with occasional overtime on Saturdays
1st Shift - 6:00am to 2:00pm
2nd Shift - 2:00pm to 10:00pm
3rd Shift - 10:00pm to 6:00am
Requirements
Basic mathematics and computer knowledge are required.
Ability to read, comprehend, and write English at a level to effectively use/interpret instructions.
Detail-oriented, time management, communication, and multitasking skills required.
Able to work independently, as well as with others in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Demands
Mostly standing and walking.
The employee is occasionally required to sit; stoop, kneel or crouch.

Under immediate supervision, performs skilled services within the Municipal Services Department/ Collection System Maintenance Division, involving operating a variety of heavy construction and right-of-way equipment. Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

Produce finished active ingredients (chemical synthesis) in a multiproduct plant per SOPs
Identify and troubleshoot operational and instrumentation problems and reports.
Operate and monitor control systems and production equipment including pumps, conveyors, field controls, and material handling systems in a multiproduct chemical synthesis plant per SOPs.
Assist in startup, shutdown, cleaning, and routine operation of production lines and equipment.
Monitor and operate central control room systems; coordinate with field operators to ensure simultaneous operations across multiple products.
Identify, troubleshoot, and report operational and instrumentation issues; recognize unique or obscure process deviations and propose corrective actions.
Calculate batch charges and maintain clear, accurate records of the manufacturing process.
Collect samples at appropriate times, ensure correct procedures, and send to analytical lab; perform routine in-process analyses using standard lab instrumentation.
Operate forklifts, snorkel lifts, and other equipment to transport raw materials, intermediate chemicals, and access elevated equipment.
Perform spill response and clean-up activities; ensure proper safety equipment is worn in all areas of responsibility.
Responsible for controlling and operating processes involving highly flammable or toxic chemicals.
Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards including RCRA hazardous waste regulations, waste determinations, labeling, inspection, and recordkeeping for satellite accumulation areas, containers, and tanks.
Maintain accurate logs and documentation of operational activities.
Support A-Level Operators and Maintenance Technicians with tasks as needed; may be asked to fill in as Lead Operator.

About the Role
As an Abbey Mill Operator at Zekelman Industries, you will play a key role in setting up and operating the Abbey steel tube mill. What You'll Do
Sets up and operates the Abbey Mill to ensure efficient production.
Oversees quality issues related to tubing and implements corrective actions as needed.
Generates and places tags on all manufactured bundles.
Completes daily paperwork, including production records and timesheets, and submits them at the end of each shift.
Ensures the end welder's micrometer readings are turned in with production paperwork.
Conducts safe, timely, and efficient changeovers.
Verifies accurate setups using micrometers, pi tape, level, and tape measures.
Maintains a clean, organized work area daily.
Attends all scheduled safety meetings and enforces company safety policies.
Demonstrates teamwork and cooperation with other employees and supervisors.
Cross-trains others for the position and is open to being cross-trained in other roles.
