Job Description
Production Associates perform any type of general labor that supports safely meeting production demand while maintaining housekeeping throughout the plant. The work is performed mostly outdoors subjecting Production Associates to inclement weather such as snow, rain, hot, and cold weather. Some areas of the plant and assigned tasks will be dirty and dusty. Production Associates perform work such as shoveling piles of material, unplugging chutes, as well as cleaning up areas of the plant around crushers, elevators, and conveyors as directed. Production Associates are also required to assist in routine plant maintenance on planned down days. This includes helping with basic repairs and maintaining production equipment including patching holes in chutes and ductwork, changing screens, and cleaning out bins and ductwork. Must be able to operate mobile equipment such as bobcat skid steers, front end loaders, dump trucks, and vacuum trucks as required (on the job training is provided for all equipment). Ensure the plant areas meet or exceed all safety standards for SGI and all work is performed safely.

This is a full-time position. 4 Shifts available, There is no guarantee of shift assignment after initial onboarding

Must be 18 years old and have a High School diploma or G.E.D. Heavy industrial manufacturing background or construction experience is preferred but not required.

Summary:
Operators are held responsible for the quality and quantity of their work. As a Manufacturing Associate you will be hired to work in Assembly, Fabrication or Paint of Matco Toolboxes. Assembly team members work in a cross-functional team learning all areas of the department including the installation of locks, slides, drawers, screws and trim, handles, casters, liners, and packing. Team members will also learn Matco's Quality Specifications and be required to perform quality checks at his or her work station.
Fabrication team members may begin training in one area primarily and progress into other fabrication areas. Team members perform simple to complex shearing, piercing, notching, and single and multiple bending operations as well as case and drawer weld functions. Learning to perform all changeovers (set-ups, gage adjustments, and alignments) and will be responsible for the quality of product, assuring the specifications from blueprints. Team members will also be responsible for material handling when required, and must be able to use power trucks and powered lift trucks. After initial training, must be able to maintain pace per required TAKT time.
Paint team members work in the paint room and learn all areas of the paint process including painting techniques, paint application tools, paint application process, paint coverage, proper wash and cleaning process. Team members will also learn and be held responsible for quality specifications and be required to perform quality checks at his or her paint booth. Proper wash and cleaning processes are completed on non-production days and are mandatory of the Paint Team.

As a Manufacturing Associate you will be hired to work in Assembly, Fabrication or Paint of Matco Toolboxes. Assembly team members work in a cross-functional team learning all areas of the department including the installation of locks, slides, drawers, screws and trim, handles, casters, liners, and packing. Team members will also learn Matco's Quality Specifications and be required to perform quality checks at his or her work station.
Fabrication team members may begin training in one area primarily and progress into other fabrication areas. Team members perform simple to complex shearing, piercing, notching, and single and multiple bending operations as well as case and drawer weld functions. Learning to perform all changeovers (set-ups, gage adjustments, and alignments) and will be responsible for the quality of product, assuring the specifications from blueprints. Team members will also be responsible for material handling when required, and must be able to use power trucks and powered lift trucks. After initial training, must be able to maintain pace per required TAKT time.
Paint team members work in the paint room and learn all areas of the paint process including painting techniques, paint application tools, paint application process, paint coverage, proper wash and cleaning process. Team members will also learn and be held responsible for quality specifications and be required to perform quality checks at his or her paint booth. Proper wash and cleaning processes are completed on non-production days and are mandatory of the Paint Team.

Make exact and concise set-up on all machines within the work cell.
Remove and replace tooling as required for a variety of parts.
Perform precision set-ups involving alignment and securing of fixtures, setting speeds and feeds and various other parameters according to the part to be produced and the machine to be used.
On initial set-up use precontrolled set-up procedures.
Precision measuring instruments such as micrometers and dial indicators must be used.
Work with the CNC control panel.
Perform Production Run:
Place part in holding fixture and clamp in place, start machine by push button, foot pedal or lever.
Unclamp and remove part when machine completes operations.
Deburr part, assemble parts, weld rivet, Double Disc, Notch the nose, and repeat the cycle.
Check parts with gauges provided and record finding on charts.
Make all adjustments necessary to ensure parts stay within specified control limits.
Simultaneous set-up and operation of multiple machines is required due to long cycle times.
Keep coolant and oil levels at the proper levels and concentrations.
After hardening is done, check handle alignment and straighten if needed.
Check joint tensions and adjust as needed.
Weigh gage as needed.
Check handle spread and gage as needed.
Check nose gap and gage as needed.
Rope cut pliers following standard procedures.
Re-file as needed.
Needle Nose pliers must have the nose adjusted to meet Quality standards.
Cell operators will be required to learn all of the jobs that are performed within the work cell.
Complete appropriate paperwork and maintain 5S requirements.
Qualifications:
Requires some initiative and ingenuity to achieve the proper goals.
Good ability and vision of adjustments of different characteristics on all pliers needed.
