May assist pharmacist in administering clinical services including the collection and proper labeling of blood/urine samples from patients and other clinical services as required; assists pharmacy staff in coordination of clinical services, Walgreens healthcare clinics and external providers. Assists Pharmacy Manager and Staff Pharmacist in developing and maintaining good relationships with the local medical community, including physicians, nurses, and other health care providers, by medical provider detailing and outreach to health groups, retirement homes, nursing homes, and other forums for enhancing growth opportunities. Assists with exterior and interior maintenance by ensuring the Pharmacy Department is stocked with adequate supplies, clean, neat and orderly in condition and appearance. RESPONSIBILITIES - Under the direct supervision of a Pharmacist, performs technical functions in the inpatient pharmacy, including but not limited to, filling routine orders, pre-packing medications, managing floor stock and preparing medications for automated dispensing. - May be trained to compound sterile products or manage controlled medications. - Performs duties in accordance with departmental and Medical Center policies and procedures. IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A. EDUCATION: - High School diploma or equivalent. B. CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE: - Current Hawaii State certificate of registration as a Pharmacy Technician. - Certificate of completion from a Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) recognized or American Society of Health-System Pharmacy (ASHP) accredited Pharmacy Technician Training Program; or three (3) months of work experience as a Pharmacy Technician may be substituted for the education requirement. C. EXPERIENCE: - Hospital technician training and work experience preferred. - Experience to demonstrate effective interpersonal and communication skills. - Proficiency in computers and word processing applications, i.e. Microsoft Word.
