Responsibilities:
Job Duties:
* Assigned a territory to cover phlebotomist duties within a Patient Service Center, doctor's office, or as business needs dictate
* Draw quality blood samples from patients and prepares those specimens for lab testing
* Collect specimens according to established procedures. This includes, but not limited to: drug screens, biometric screening and insurance exams
* Enter billing information and collect payment when required
* Will be required to coach, mentor, instruct, and be a resource advisor for new employees, as well as be the point of contact to staff on site and provide regular input to the group lead or supervisor
* Travel to additional doctor's office or Patient Service Center sites when needed
Qualifications:
Required Education
* High school diploma or equivalent.
* Medical training: medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
* Phlebotomy certification preferred. Required in California, Nevada, and Washington.
Work Experience
* Five years phlebotomy experience required, inclusive of pediatric, geriatric and capillary collections.
* Minimum 3 years in a Patient Service Center environment preferred.
* Customer service in a retail or service environment preferred.
* Keyboard/data entry experience.

Ensure that specimens are updated to receive status, that correct data is reflected in terms of collect date/time and receipt date/time and delivered to the appropriate Lab Section immediately upon receipt.
Communicate complaints or problems to department supervisor.
Collect data for quality assurance program as outlined, maintain thorough and neat documentation, and monitor and clear collection pending reports.
Demonstrate knowledge of standard phlebotomy techniques and appropriate blood processing and handling procedures.
Maintain and advocate a safe environment for everyone.

Responsibilities:
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Indicates duties for phlebotomists in outpatient settings.
1. Performs venipunctures, heel‑sticks, and/or finger sticks as ordered according to established standards and practices/procedures using proper techniques and equipment. Adheres to Laboratory limits on number of attempts and communicate issues appropriately to Laboratory and Nursing staff.
2. Transcribes patient orders and performs other computer and non-computer related tasks necessary for outpatient specimen collection.
3. Identifies, labels, and dispatches specimens received/collected. Centrifuges specimens, as needed, per procedure.
4. Provides direct patient care in a caring, friendly, and professional manner.
5. Follows principles of asepsis and antisepsis in performing duties.
6. Assures equipment is clean and functioning properly. (Scanners, printers, pagers, lights, etc.).
7. Dispatches specimens to appropriate department.
8. Ensures supplies are within acceptable expiration dates immediately discarding those not meeting requirements.
9. Receives work assignments and completes them as assigned in a timely manner.
10. Plans, organizes, and prioritizes work duties.
11. Performs EKG's as ordered following standard hospital procedure.
12. Correctly obtain adequate throat, nares and NP specimens as necessary for test(s) ordered. Processes specimens as required to ensure specimen stability.
13. Performs waived testing as needed/ordered.
14. Notifies Surgery Nurse when unable to obtain specimens for surgery patients.
15. Ensures adequate phlebotomy supplies are available and notifies Supervisor when necessary to order. Stocks supply deliveries.

17. Generates and reviews pending logs resolving issues as needed. Performs adequate handoff of information to incoming shift.

* Collect specimens according to established procedures. This includes, but not limited to: drug screens, biometric screening and insurance exams.
* Administer oral solutions according to established training.
* Research test/client information and confirm and verify all written and electronic orders by utilizing lab technology systems, Client contact, and approved tools.

* Flexible and available based on staffing needs, which includes weekends, holidays, on-call and overtime.
* Must have reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and clean driving record, if applicable.
Required Education
* High school diploma or equivalent.
* Medical training: medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
