Wolk's syndicate sold the property to the club members in 1960.
Egon Jorgensen, general manager since the club's inception, set up the machinery in organizing the club, which opened in June 1962.
Before it became the Mill River Club in 1964, it was the epitome of genteel splendor, an oasis where Henry P. Davison and his wife, Eleanor, who is a daughter of the late Sir Ashley Sparks, chief representative of the Cunard Line in the United States, found great happiness.
Burden and his wife, the former Florence Adele Sloane, became the Woodcrest Club in 1968.
The rest is “Pine Hollow history.” The Marvel’s moved to Clayton in November of 1982 and got to work.
In the summer of 1982, a 'Johnston' visited Raleigh and fell in love with the city and the town of Clayton, Johnston County.
At the time Harry purchased Pine Hollow in 1982, the course averaged 12,000 rounds per year.
In 2000, Mike Marvel hired renowned course designer Bob Moore to renovate the greens from Bent to Mini Verde Bermuda.

Sadly, Harry passed away in October 2013, but the course remains in the Johnson family.
