    Sunrise St. Pete is the City of St. Petersburg's initiative for its allocation of Community Development Block Grant-Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The City of St. Petersburg will receive $159.8 million in CDBG-DR to support long-term recovery efforts from the storms Idalia (August 2023) and Helene (September 2024). The Community Development Block Grant Program (CDBG) is used by the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to provide grants to states, cities, and counties in a variety of forms. The CDBG-Disaster Recovery (DR) is a one-time appropriation made after natural disasters to assist communities by providing decent housing and a suitable living environment and expanding economic opportunities, primarily for low and moderate-income persons. This is a grant-funded position responsible for performing, professional and technical work of moderate complexity developing, researching, preparing, and executing operations of complex federally funded disaster recovery and housing initiatives including Sunrise St. Pete, the City of St. Petersburg's initiative for its $159.8 million allocation of Community Development Block Grant-Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), through detailed program design, compliance documentation, coordination of environmental reviews, development of performance metrics, maintenance of required HUD files, management of information in federal and City systems (IDIS, Neighborly, Oracle, GIS), preparation of Action Plan-related materials, and assisting with subrecipient and contractor monitoring to ensure adherence to 2 CFR 200, HUD FR-Notices, and all applicable federal, state, and City regulations. Work involves technical and creative responsibility in conducting research and preparing moderately complex and detailed planning studies, assisting in public policy and program development, and community engagement. Work will involve the creation of proposals for contracted services and will assist in contract monitoring of assigned projects. Work requires the exercise of considerable independent judgment, initiative, ingenuity, and tact; and extensive, productive interaction with the public, other employees, City officials, neighborhood associations and local businesses.
