Gross margin targets as a percentage of sales. Gross margin percentage expansion. Vitality index growth. Vitality GM targets. New product launches. Engagement of customers and the business leveraging key tools, such as situational analysis, sales & marketing plans, the POL process, EVE tools, the pricing quote tool, marcom resources, effective product launch kits, etc. Understand key market trends and drive growth in targeted segments of the industry as well as Business Unit selected target niche applications to develop value based selling and pricing strategy, including the use of the EVE process. Tracking of key market metrics, market, customer and competitor surveillance and ability to understand and provide direction on how and where to position our products and services based on market opportunities and positioning versus competitor strengths and weaknesses. Oversee innovation and the POL process from idea generation through market analysis and sales/marketing plans to launch. Ensure deployment of key processes and tools such as market assessments, including situational analysis and NOVA, market planning, new product launch, EVE and dynamic sales model for profitability analysis. In follow up to market analysis, including the use of Porter's Five Forces and other tools, develop plans to address industry trends, enhance competitive position and execute against our specialization strategy. Ensures a consistent pricing process and execution that delivers profitable growth achieving gross margin targets. Ensures effective industry marketing, including use of EVE tools and product launch kits that penetrate the targeted markets. Selects, trains, develops and motivates an effective supporting staff. Provides direction and training in Business Unit/Company/Corporate wide marketing training programs. Conducts performance appraisals and initiates salary adjustments. Directs or oversees new market development for current or prospective programs for the penetration of existing markets. Directs or oversees market research and analyses to track future marketplace trends, customer needs, competitor data and product performance and acceptability. Monitors results and formulates short and long-term marketing strategies. Presents strategies to upper management for approval. Directs or oversees the development and introduction of new products with sales, research, manufacturing and distribution. Supervises or monitors the development of new product pricing, technical literature, advertising campaigns, definitions, specification and performance standards. Develops, reviews and coordinates product promotion, technical presentations and advertising through marketing staff and marketing communications. Ensures customer and Avient sales personnel receive continuous technical support in the form of up-to-date product application technology, training and problem solving. Develops contacts with major customers and suppliers. Conducts executive marketing/sales calls to maintain customer contact, promotes sales efforts, evaluates market trends and develops business at target accounts. Coordination, support and leadership in the POL process and the situational analysis system. Establishes and implements the groups overall marketing goals. Approves individual product group goals submitted by staff. Develops or reviews product forecasts for management approval. Monitors business results. Initiates and updates Strategic Plan in conjunction with management in each region. Directs or monitors a supporting staff in the management of existing product groups, new product development and programs. Generates and monitors effectiveness of sales campaigns, advertising programs and technical literature. Ensures products sales records are analyzed and performance is evaluated against sales targets. Monitors product gross margins and profitability against control standards. Reviews product prices, approves price deviations, discontinues unprofitable products and implements price increases. Supports and is committed to Avient's LSS improvement process. Plans strategies to ensure error-free work and conveys this attitude in the daily performance of various duties. Coordinates and attends various trade/organization functions to develop business contacts and gather market information. Develops annual budgets for management approval. Administers approved budgets. Reviews expenses to ensure adherence to departmental and corporate goals. Scope Global responsibility. Personnel: 12 plus (including direct-matrix reports). Budget: $3,000,000 or more. Essential Functions * Troubleshoots mechanical devices in operation. Dismantles and examines devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.
