Description
We seek to hire a Patent Attorney or Patent Agent to assist in developing and curating the company's wireless communications patent portfolio. You will work with the business to build and purposefully prosecute the associated worldwide patent portfolio and strategy. This includes identifying patentable inventions; securing high-quality, strategic patent assets; providing expert technical and legal analysis; handling patent challenges; providing guidance in support of patent transactions and licensing matters; assigning and managing work performed by outside law firms; and working with engineering and other business organizations to understand priorities and challenges. This position also will provide cross‑functional support for acquisition due diligence, IP licensing, enforcement, standards, and litigation activities.
Minimum Qualifications
5+ years of relevant experience at a top law firm and/or in‑house legal department.
5+ years drafting and prosecuting patent assets, managingportfolios, developing patent strategies, conducting patent analysis, and providing support for standards, transactions, and litigation projects.
Experienced in wireless telecommunications, wireless protocols, and communications hardware.
USPTO Registration and BS degree in EE/CS/CE
Preferred Qualifications
Familiar with wireless standardization (e.g., 3GPP and 802.11).
Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
JD preferred

The base pay range for this role is between $230,500 and $346,500, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

About the Role
You will lead and build a team to develop, implement, maintain, and manage the company's global corporate and indirect tax filings, documentation, compliance, and strategic projects. You'll own and scale tax processes and will be the go‑to tax person for Quizlet. In this role, you will
Oversee the preparation and filing of federal, state, and international tax returns in a timely manner (including timely payments of all tax obligations)
Own tax provision and financial statement disclosure process
Document tax positions taken and review alternative tax positions to determine the most appropriate, cost‑effective filing position
Facilitate analysis of R&D to qualify for R&D tax credits in different tax jurisdictions
Oversee the preparation and filing of accurate Sales and Use tax returns for multi‑state and remit taxes to taxing jurisdictions on a timely basis using AvaTax via Avalara
Manage the Company's international VAT and other indirect tax exposure and oversee compliance activities
Manage other miscellaneous tax filings, such as annual Delaware Franchise Taxes, SF Gross tax and other local municipal business taxes
Reconcile Sales and Use tax accounts, along with follow up on outstanding open issues.
Update GL data related to tax accounts, such as accruals and prepayments.
Respond to tax notices and oversee the tax audit process
Monitor existing and proposed legislative and regulatory US and global tax law developments, communicate the effects, and develop risk‑minimization tax strategies.
Partner with key strategic partners in Accounting, FP&A, Legal, and Equity administration to achieve key tax objectives (including but not limited to tax planning, legal entity structure, transfer pricing, etc.) and to ensure tax implications are integrated into business decisions
Build and maintain effective control procedures over all aspects of the tax process
What you bring to the table
10+ years of progressive, relevant experience in Tax within a top technology company or a combination of Big Four and industry experience
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, and CPA, CPA equivalent, Master's in Tax, or JD required
Multi‑State Sales and Use Tax accounting experience is highly desired
Strong understanding of accounting for income tax provisions under ASC 740, federal, state, and international tax regulations
Experience in NetSuite and Avalara is desirable, including experience with process automation
Proven experience managing compliance and advisory projects
Ability to drive strong output on multiple fronts and prioritize items to meet deadlines
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy

As a Strategic BD and Investment Manager, you will:
Lead frontline engagement with US and AI/tech or AI+ application companies to identify collaboration opportunities and establish long-term partnerships;
Identify and evaluate high-potential investment opportunities and strategic partnerships at the intersection of Tech/AI and Games/Entertainment. More importantly, drive development of new opportunities and incubate new businesses
Act as the primary external-facing representative to bridge Tencent's internal teams (studios, tech platform) with external innovators and ecosystem players.
Monitor and analyze emerging technology and AI trends in gaming and entertainment. Develop and maintain a strategic framework for market analysis and opportunity assessment;
Work directly with senior management across global AI and games markets.
Work in a team with high-calibre executives previously from top-tier consultancy firms and investment banks.
You will be responsible for supporting decision-makings for executives and leaders of business groups.
Provide game changing strategy and inspire out-of-the-box thinking to senior leader.
Plan and manage business incubation, drive product innovation and new partnerships, develop and execute go-to-market plan.
Who We Look For:
Have more than 3 years of work experience in tech investment or strategy consulting, preferably with a focus on gaming/entertainment or TMT industries. An advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a similar field is a strong plus.
Demonstrate strategic vision, business insights and in-depth knowledge of emerging technologies and market trends (particularly AI applications in gaming).
Proficiency in analyzing market data, financial metrics, and technology trends to identify promising opportunities in game tech/AI.
Must be a self-starter, capable of navigating ambiguity and driving investment strategies from ideation to execution, while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Effective team players with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Exceptional proficiency with MS Excel & PowerPoint; working knowledge of statistics and analysis packages.

The expected base pay range for this position in the location(s) listed above is $100,300.00 to $233,200.00 per year. Actual pay may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Employees hired for this position may be eligible for a sign on payment, relocation package, and restricted stock units, which will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Subject to the terms and conditions of the plans in effect, hired applicants are also eligible for medical, dental, vision, life and disability benefits, and participation in the Company's 401(k) plan. The Employee is also eligible for up to 15 to 25 days of vacation per year (depending on the employee's tenure), up to 13 days of holidays throughout the calendar year, and up to 10 days of paid sick leave per year. Your benefits may be adjusted to reflect your location, employment status, duration of employment with the company, and position level. Benefits may also be pro-rated for those who start working during the calendar year.

Qualifications:
Requires a bachelor's degree in Finance, Business or other related field and 2+ years of banking, relationship management, underwriting and credit experience or other directly related experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may meet qualifications.
Knowledge of various types of loans, credit analysis, spreading and analyzing financial statements, risk analysis, credit scoring, loan documentation, etc.
Knowledge of banking products, services, policies, procedures and regulations.
Solid credit skills in underwriting, financial modeling, valuations and adherence to policy.
Requires solid customer service, relationship, organizational, analytical and creative problem-solving skills.
Ability to meet deadlines.
