What you'll do:
Provide care for a full spectrum primary care clinic, taking care of acute and chronic care needs.
Be curious in an effort to keep more care in primary care; solve problems, answer questions, and spend quality time in service of learning on behalf of your patients.
Provide patients and family members with counseling and education regarding health maintenance, disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and need for follow up as appropriate during each patient visit.
Collaborate with other Physicians, Specialists, Pharmacists, Nurses, and other healthcare professionals in person or by video in the best interest of patients.
Perform minor outpatient procedures in accordance with credentialing/privileging policy.
Complete timely and accurate documentation.
What you'll bring:
Currently licensed or able to be licensed in the state of Washington by hire date.
Board certified or board eligible in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Med-Peds.
Unrestricted DEA, NPI, and prescriptive authority.
Ability to be credentialed under Medicare.
Flexibility with scheduling to cover varying clinic shifts.
Proficient in use of the EMR, with Epic experience strongly preferred.
Excellent critical thinking, flexibility, problem solving and communication skills.
Working Environment
This position operates in a clinic environment, providing both in person and telehealth care. Collaboration with various healthcare providers is routine, and participation in wellness programs may also be required.
Physical Requirements
Ability to work in a clinical environment, interact with patients for prolonged periods, and perform duties requiring a high level of concentration and emotional resilience.

Primary CarePhysicians (PCPs) working in VA Medical Centers (VAMCs) or Community-Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs), will adhere to infection control, biohazard handling, and PPE protocols to ensure a safe environment. Ability to see 15-20 patients per clinical day.
Maintenance of hospital privileges (active or associate) is recommended. Hospital care is provided primarily through agreement with another practice.
Maintains a program of comprehensive health for the family unit, to include preventive medicine, behavioral sciences, and community health.
Prepares and reviews medical histories and obtains data through interviews.
Examines patients, formulates differential diagnostic plans, defines and orders required diagnostic testing. Interprets examination findings and test results and implements treatment plans.
Determines need for consultation and assists in medical care and treatment provided at the direction of other specialists.
Participates in surgical procedures according to training, volume standards, and demonstrated ability.
Provides supportive and definitive care to patients with serious medical and surgical conditions with appropriate consultation, based on documented and demonstrated proficiency.
Manages medical services for the health care of families.
Formulates plans and procedures for operating outpatient services directed toward health maintenance and ongoing health care of families by a physician who serves as their personal physician.
Promotes positive interpersonal relationships with fellow employees, physicians and patients.
Ensures confidentiality of patient information.
Has regular and predictable attendance.
Attends all monthly staff meetings and other meetings as requested.

Purpose of Job:
Improve the overall health of the communities we serve by providing primary medical services at NEWHP clinics in accordance with policies, procedures and regulations of NEWHP's Board of Directors and administration as listed below.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Treats a mixed patient population, across gender, age and ethnicity, as well as insured and uninsured patients.
Examines patient to determine general physical condition. Performs physical examinations and preventive health measures within prescribed guidelines.
Orders or executes various tests, analyses, and diagnostic images to provide information on patient's condition.
Analyzes reports and findings and diagnoses condition.
Prescribes or recommends drugs or other forms of treatment such as physical therapy, inhalation therapy, or related therapeutic procedures. Orders inoculations and vaccinations for patients to immunize from communicable diseases.
Performs minor surgery.
Refers patients to medical specialist or other practitioner for specialized treatment.
Advises patients concerning diet, hygiene, and methods for prevention of disease.
Records and/or signs off on physical findings, and formulates plan and prognosis, based on patient's condition, in patient's electronic chart in accordance with established standards.
Reports births, deaths, and outbreak of contagious diseases to governmental authorities.
Participates in provider staff meetings to develop problem-solving techniques, and acquire team building skills. Participates in peer reviews, as requested.
Represents NEWHP at conferences meetings, and continuing education programs. Participates in clinic QI initiatives as requested.
Performs other duties as assigned or as needed.
Administrative and Supervisory responsibility:
Performs clinical services as directed by the Chief Medical Officer. Precepts physician assistant students, nurse practitioner students, and other identified students as requested. Supervises assigned Physician Assistants. Serves as a resource to mid-level providers in clinic. Advocates for mid-levels to outside health agencies.
Travel may be required.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
Education/Experience: Completion of accredited medical doctor or doctor of osteopathy program required. Board certification or board - eligible in area of specialty (internists/pediatricians, family practice, obstetrics/ gynecology) required. Family Practice specialty strongly preferred. Previous experience working with underserved populations highly desired. Certification through the Drug Enforcement Agency and valid licensure in Washington State required. BLS certification required.
Skills: Must be able to secure credentialing through identified agencies (Medicare, Medicaid, etc.). Effective oral and written communication skills required. Computer skills required. EHR experience preferred.
Physical Demands:
Providers must be able to move around the facility between 113rd and 2/3rds of the day, as well as sit at a workstation or in patient rooms. Using hands occurs over 2/3rds of the day, while reaching with arms occurs less than 113rd of the day. Communicating is also required over 2/3rds of the day, while climbing, stooping or crawling is minimal. Lifting 10lbs. occurs about half the time, while up to and above 25lbs. occurs only occasionally.

Primary CarePhysicians (PCPs) working in VA Medical Centers (VAMCs) or Community-Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs), will adhere to infection control, biohazard handling, and PPE protocols to ensure a safe environment. Physicians must follow HIPAA regulations, OSHA standards, and VA workplace safety policies, including radiation safety, ergonomic best practices, and emergency response procedures.
Physicians will manage high patient volumes, collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, and provide care to aging veterans, combat-injured patients, and those with PTSD or mental health challenges. Workplace violence prevention training and security measures are in place for safety. All incidents, exposures, or patient safety concerns must be reported per VA compliance and occupational health requirements.
This position requires passing an extensive background check.
Qualifications:
Must be Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Practice.
Active and unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state or territory.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
Minimum two (2) years of experience as a practicing physician in a primary care setting preferred.
Familiarity with VA policies, procedures, and electronic health records (EHR/CPRS) is a plus.
Ability to pass a background check and credentialing process required by the VA.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, including excellent telephone etiquette and precise documentation.
Proficiency in Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office (intermediate to advanced level), online calendars, and cloud-based systems.
Detail-oriented with accurate data entry skills.
Customer-focused with a team-oriented work ethic.
Ability to multi-task efficiently and accurately while maintaining quality standards.
