Strong expertise in motion control systems, precision assemblies, and the design of moving mechanical systems. Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo, or NX. NX Preferred)). RESPONSIBILITIES \•\\tDesigns electrical distribution system (EDS) products to meet all customer requirements and internal design standards, including high voltage wiring and smart junction boxes. \•\\tDesigns high Voltage Cables and Connectors and work directly with their suppliers \•\\tDesigns low voltage wiring harnesses and battery cables \•\\tGenerates a Bill of Material (BOM) and prints for product designs. \•\\tCoordinates with Sales, Purchasing, and Manufacturing to assess product and processing costs and ensure that program cost targets are achieved. \•\\tCoordinates 3D designs to package components and create schematics \- has full design responsibility. \•\\tDefine retention, convolute, tapes. \•\\tProvides proposals on cost/weight reduction to enhance productivity. \•\\tCoordinates all program status review meetings, design review meetings, and harness trial builds with customer, manufacturing, and purchasing. \•\\tAttends customer meetings and build events. \•\\tMaintains a program open issues list to track all issues (i.e., design, system, manufacturing, purchasing, and customer) which are related to the program. \•\\tReviews the open issues list with the customer, manufacturing, and purchasing. \•\\tCoordinates program timing, PPAP, and master sample reviews. \•\\tSupports future business opportunities by working closely with the Sales, Purchasing, and Manufacturing groups. WORKING CONDITIONS \•\\tGeneral Engineering Office Environment, or potential remote work from home (for right experience) \•\\tTravel to customer and occasional travel to plants Requirements\• 5+ years of experience in engineering or a related technical area \• Engineering degree in a relevant discipline \•\\tExperience designing new high voltage wire harness and cable assemblies \•\\tExperience designing smart junction boxes, including routing and wire gauge selection \•\\tDemonstrated knowledge of vehicle electrical systems, understanding of engineering/technical requirements and standards. \•\\tKnowledge of automotive (or similar transportation industry) component development and production processes, wire harness assembly processes, wire harness components \•\\tComputer Aided Design (CAD) systems (CATIA) \- preferably CATIAV6 \•\\tDesign Failure Mode Effects Analysis (DFMEA). \•\\tProficiency in using MS Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word also recommended
