Key Responsibilities Lead the extraction, isolation, and characterization of new functional ingredients from plant raw materials using analytical techniques (HPLC-MS, SDS-PAGE, spectrophotometry, etc.). Apply advanced soft matter science to develop differentiated structured foods through emulsification, gelation, foaming, crystallization, and related approaches. Leverage AI and emerging technologies to design the next generation of healthy, functional foods with enhanced consumer experiences. Develop and implement procedures to characterize proteins and biopolymers using materials science techniques (DSC, rheometry, laser diffraction). Design and execute experiments, write SOPs and protocols for new procedures, analyze data, and prepare reports for review. Continuously scout and evaluate advanced technologies aligned with strategic focus areas; generate insights on new ingredient platforms. Lead high-impact research projects that result in patents and strengthen the company's innovation leadership. Build and manage collaborations with academic researchers, analytical service providers, consultants, ingredient suppliers, equipment manufacturers, and IP partners. The Senior Research Fellow will manage the Cosmogenic Nuclide and X-ray Analytical Laboratores in support of research in geochemistry, geomorphology, volcanology, sedimentology, mineralogy,and petrology. Duties include sample preparation, mineral separation, wet chemistry, and operation and maintenance of a PANalytical Zetium Ultimate X-ray spectrograph and an ITRAX XRF core scanner. The Senior Research Fellow will be primarily responsible for overseeing the daily operation of the facilities, including preparing samples, conducting high quality analyses, scheduling and training of internal and external users, maintaining and servicing facilities and instruments, and ordering supplies. The Senior Research Fellow will work both independently and in collaboration with undergraduates, graduate students, postdocs, and professors in the two labs. Candidates with geoanalytical experience, including backgrounds in either cosmogenic nuclide geochemistry or XRF elemental analysis, are encouraged to apply, and training will be provided for skills needed to manage both laboratories. Essential Functions Conduct research in collaboration with faculty, post-docs, graduate students, and undergraduate students. Preparation of rock, soil, and sediment samples for cosmogenic nuclide and elemental analysis, including crushing, splitting, sieving, and powdering. Work with chemicals, including hydrofluoric acid, and high temperature furnaces in environments with noise and high temperature; heavy lifting and prolonged periods of standing. Operation, maintenance, and repair of a PANalytical Zetium (Ultimate edition) XRF. Elemental Analyzer and a Cox Instruments ITRAX XRF core-scanner for analysis of major and trace element concentrations in earth materials, including rock, soil, and sediment cores. Physical and chemical processing of geological samples in a clean room to produce purified extracts of beryllium and aluminum for cosmogenic nuclide measurements. Fusion of powdered samples using platinum crucibles, fluxes and torches or high temperature furnaces. Operation of an Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectrometer (ICP-OES), including preparation of calibration solutions from standards. The goal of this work is to understand how the load-dependent proteins of the molecular motor myosin enable it to perform complex cellular processes when working as a team of motors. We are searching for a highly motivated single molecule biophysicist familiar with the laser trap and in vitro motility assays. These skills will be used to characterize the single molecule and mini-ensemble properties of three different classes of myosin: muscle myosin II, myosin III and myosin V. The goal of this project is to understand how the single molecule properties of these myosins give rise to the complex behavior they demonstrate in multi-motor teams. Specific activities will include protein purification and preparation, fluorescence microscopy and data collection and analysis of data from the single molecule laser trap and in vitro motility assay. Preparation and presentation of figures for presentation at national and international meetings, as well as for publication. Writing manuscripts for publication in high-impact journals. Preference will be given to those with the ability to express and purify myosin proteins.
