Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Responsible for efficient operation of crystal growth processes, including source synthesis, seed preparation, bulk crystal growth, post growth treatment, and any other related processes. Creates and maintains SPC charts for critical crystal growth processes. Lead the implementation of processes and technology from the crystal growth R&D to crystal growth manufacturing. Work with the R&D team of engineers and technicians on projects and specific tasks related to the development and manufacturing of Silicon Carbide crystals. Within the framework of R&D projects and commercial manufacturing run by AMD designs, schedules and carries out crystal growth, materials processing and other experiments and analyzes their results. Maintains technical drawings of crystal growth and related equipment parts. Characterizes produced single crystals using all necessary tools and techniques, including those available at AMD, as well as from other sources inside and outside Coherent. Investigates and models experimental data to establish correlations and trends. Characterizes technological processes, establishes the process reliability and "bottlenecks". Finds innovative solutions to technical problems and optimizes crystal growth so it leads to the improved product quality, increased yields and throughput. Generates scientific and technical ideas and contributes to the Intellectual Property Portfolio of Coherent by writing IP disclosures and patents.
Education & Experience
Bachelor's in Material Science and Engineering, Physics, Chemistry or a related area of study

The annual base salary range for this position is $110,000 - $135,000. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline. Job Summary
The Senior Extrusion Engineer Operations is responsible for providing technical support to the extrusion areas. This includes problem solving, process development and leading continuous improvements efforts. The Senior Extrusion Engineer Operations proactively pursues meeting all established corporate, divisional and site goals including those for safety, productivity, and continuous improvement.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
Ensure compliance with all applicable safety requirements
Provide daily technical support to the extrusion and heat shrink production team by leading problem-solving efforts
Develops, justifies and manages capital equipment projects to support new products, as well as increase productivity on existing products.
Promote owner mindset and employee empowerment by ensuring that standardized work processes are established, followed and counter measures are implemented,
Facilitate NBS Next business model at the production floor level. Ensure production team are educated and actively engaged in applying NBS Next elements on the production floor.
Aids the Manufacturing Manager in developing and implementing new and/or refined processes for extrusion operations.
Design, develop and implement cost saving initiatives on the production floor
Ensure compliance to all applicable QMS requirements
Participate in the operations planning process at the site level
Create a culture of continuous improvement by encouraging participation among production team,
Communicate effectively with co-workers
Participate in Company technology planning and development activities
Perform assigned job functions in a manner that meets or exceeds specified quality standards and required productivity metrics for job assigned.
Coordinate with engineering team to ensure the timely and effective transfer of new product/processes

Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Operations, or relevant degree is preferred; 12 years of relevant experience is required in lieu of a degree
+7 years related extrusion experience; medical device & fluoropolymer preferred
+5 years of production experience
Experience working collaboratively with cross-functional teams in a matrixed organization
Ability to understand a broad range of extrusion equipment functions.
Strong technical skills demonstrated through prior experience and career progression
Skills and Abilities
Ability to setup/start-up and tear down an extrusion line including tooling selection and process development
Ability to identify and solve challenging extrusion related problems
High level of passion and enthusiasm to lead problem solving and continuous improvement efforts on the production floor
Strong written and verbal two-way communication skills
Must understand and be able to implement Statistical Process Control (SPC) tools.
Working knowledge of CAD tools such as SolidWorks is desirable.

Program Overview
The JGM Engineering Graduate Rotational Program is a comprehensive 18-month initiative designed to provide recent engineering graduates with hands-on experience to help launch their career in structural steel fabrication. As an Industrial Manufacturing Engineer - Fabrication in this program, participants will gain exposure to three key areas within JGM: Shop Floor Operations, Production Control, as well as Estimating/Purchasing. The goal is to offer in-depth experience under the guidance of industry experts, preparing participants for future leadership roles within our company on the fabrication side of the business by rotating through the departments within JGM per below (not necessarily in this order).

The Position
We are seeking a Process Engineer to join our Operations team to join our team. This position will be responsible for the design, implementation, and optimization of our processes as well as the development of maintenance and operational procedures keeping safety as key driving force while working directly with the teams to support our organization's initiatives. The Position
We are seeking a Process Engineer to join our Operations team to join our team. This position will be responsible for the design, implementation, and optimization of our processes as well as the development of maintenance and operational procedures keeping safety as key driving force while working directly with the teams to support our organization's initiatives. In your role as process engineer, you will ensure the uptime and quality of our operations are optimized, working closely with operations supervisor, instrumentation engineer, operators, and other team members keeping in mind the "big picture" of technology development plans. You will rely on data acquisition systems to monitor pilot plants and equipment and diagnose failure points quickly to minimize downtime. You must have a deep understanding of how equipment (reactors, flow meters/controllers, separators, pressure regulators & relief valves, etc.) and various chemical process systems operate. You must be comfortable with the mobility and physical strength requirements, including the ability to climb ladders and fit into tight spaces, and ability to lift at least 50 pounds. This role is based in New Britain, PA with occasional travel to Brooklyn, NY during the first year.

Collaborate with RD&E teams on the design and scale up of processes.
Assist with the design and lead the commissioning of equipment and systems for new pilot plants and lab reactor systems, ensuring they meet pilot plant process objectives and safety regulations / guidelines.
Work closely with team members to install, test, and operate new pilot plants, ensuring efficiency, quality, and safety.
Participate in troubleshooting existing pilot plants to address design related issues.
Develop and implement modifications to existing pilot plants, aiming to minimize downtime and improve quality.
Understand technical manuals and work with maintenance team as necessary to facilitate repairs
Assist in the development of maintenance KPIs (such as downtime reduction, inventory record and reduction, performance quality, total uptime, % rework, etc.)
What you bring to AIR COMPANY
8+ years of experience in designing and/or maintaining pilot plants for chemical, petrochemical, or renewable processes.
BS in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, or equivalent sciences are also acceptable.
Expertise in pilot plant process and equipment design and down-selection of equipment within the cost constraints.
Strong maintenance focused mindset along with demonstrated experience in maintenance, upkeep, and operation of chemical plants or equipment.
Very familiar with equipment such as compressors, liquid pumps, mass flow controllers, flow meters, temperature, and pressure controllers, etc. for pilot plant usage.
A great attitude, with the ability to work collaboratively, proactively, and independently. Eagerness to share knowledge and learn from others.
