A day in the life
You are managing quality of implementation through multiple projects that can vary in scope, complexity and duration.
Daily tasks may comprise of site coordination with operations teams and contractors on project execution activities or changes; deep diving project progress, schedule and resources, while identifying barriers, creating solutions and driving resolutions. You may be facilitating the planning and/or implementation meetings with projects' stakeholders, ensuring alignment in objectives, expectations, and the next steps; you would capture and publish detailed notes after each meeting to drive ownership and follow-through on the actions and decisions. Reviewing/approving audit mechanisms and documentation is one of the essential tasks, and you may be tracking the programmatic week on week installation opportunities with the internal automation teams. Basic Qualifications

What's the role?
Field Applications Engineers assist our customers and our Zeiss sales team with pre-sales activities such as product demonstration and sales support, as well as post-sales activities such as helping customers with understanding and applying our hardware and software systems. This support is provided in a variety of ways, including product demonstration, formal and custom training classes, telephone and on-site support, programming and measurement services. This important consultative role requires professional conduct and customer orientation at all times.
Location/Region: This position is located in Wixom, MI. Hybrid position with ability and willingness to travel in the USA and internationally (35-50%).

Provide technical consultation to sales teams and the Industrial Metrology (IM) dealer network on advanced applications and systems
Ensure accurate technical information flows to the field sales force
Focus on advanced applications and the introduction of new ZEISS technologies into the North American market
Deliver technical training programs to sales personnel and dealer partners
Plan and perform high-quality customer demonstrations, both in-house and on-site
Provide after-sales technical support to help customers successfully use ZEISS systems
Conduct customer training to supplement the Applications Engineering team
Support all Carl Zeiss Industrial Metrology systems and respond to software/applications questions
Assist with software and system testing for product development, including filing performance reports

Job Description
The Field Applications Engineer is responsible for developing, servicing, training and supporting both the customer test equipment and customer personnel. The primary focus is customer service experience working with dynamometer control software to integrate customer test requests, performing test equipment calibrations, and executing troubleshooting efforts on test cell equipment. This role requires the ability to successfully manage tasks and assignments in multiple areas. Initiative and ownership of responsibilities are critical to the success of this individual.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Commission Dynamometer Test Systems utilizing the following components:
Windows OS HMIs, Real time Computers using an RTOS
FPGA / Instrumentation / PLCs / Third party software
Induction, permanent magnet and DC dynamometers, AC drives and DC drives
Ancillary Equipment (coolant and oil conditioning, etc.)
Configure equipment using the following communication protocols
EtherCAT, Modbus Variants, Profibus, AK Engine, UDP
Serial (RS-232, RS-485)
FlexRay, CAN (and variants)
Controller setup, calibration, commissioning, service, and warranty tasks for test systems
Develop LabVIEW programs for Dynamometer controller and Automated Test Equipment to meet customer needs
Analyze Data generated from Dynamometers and create custom reports for Customers using LabVIEW and Diadem
Assist customer technical issues and problem resolution to debug Software and Hardware problems
Create, review and document Software requirement specifications, Test Plans, Software Change Requests, and Software User Manuals
Participate in Software Design reviews, code reviews, and project update meetings
Interact with internal and external customers for troubleshooting and debugging software
Continued learning of new methods and equipment to improve job capabilities and testing
Train customers on using REPS Dynamometer Testing software
Create reports based on work completed for customer approval
Tracking time spent on jobs and other tasks.
Generate parts lists and order sheets for troubleshooting efforts and support work

Qualifications
Education and Skill Requirements:
