The South Florida Sun Sentinel is offering two internships for graduate or undergraduate students. The topic areas are determined by staff needs as well as the skills of the applicants. One is usually a Sports intern, and the other can be in any of the following disciplines: News, Features, Data Reporting, Photo-Visuals. The people selected as interns will work full time for 10-12 weeks in summer 2026. GENERAL PURPOSE: The purpose of the Coconut Creek Internship Program is to strengthen relationships between educators and the City of Coconut Creek while assisting students in applying classroom theory in a work environment. The Intern can expect to be assigned duties and responsibilities that are comparable to those performed by full-time, Fitness Specialist employees. Interns will be able to visit and work within all areas of service that the department offers in the Fitness area. Work is performed under close supervision of the Supervisor, Senior Fitness Specialist and Fitness Specialist(s). SCHEDULE: Must be available to work morning/afternoon/evenings (Monday -Friday), Saturdays, Sundays, holidays, and special events. Days/hours are subject to change. Shifts will give the student a well-rounded view of all areas which constitute the Fitness Division. Major scheduling emphasis will be placed in the area that most closely parallels the professional goals of the student.
