The individual would produce construction documents for a variety of building types including retail, warehouse/industrial, office, and governmental. In addition to the responsibilities for developing high quality mechanical drawings and specifications, the position involves continuous client service and client contact including on-site meetings and data collection with travel required. The position requires a Bachelor degree in a relevant field. Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering exam is a plus. The position involves use of AutoCAD and/or Autodesk Revit platforms.

Rescue & Emergency Response:

Perform rescues in various conditions, including in open water, assisting swimmers, kayakers, canoers, and Corcl users who may be in distress.
Stay alert and responsive to emergency situations, including watercraft capsizes, swimmer distress, or other incidents, ensuring quick and safe intervention.
Watercraft Supervision & Safety:
Ensure that all kayaks, canoes, and Corcls are in good working condition, equipped, and ready for safe use.
Provide safety instructions for campers using kayaks, canoes, and Corcls, including proper paddling techniques, balancing, and understanding water conditions.
Supervise and assist participants in launching, navigating, and docking watercraft safely, offering guidance to prevent capsizes or collisions.
Enforce rules for safe use of watercraft, ensuring that all participants wear appropriate personal flotation devices (PFDs) and understand the safety protocols for each watercraft.
Preventative Safety Measures:
Conduct regular checks of the swimming and watercraft areas, inspecting the water conditions, and equipment such as kayaks, canoes, and Corcls for safety hazards.
Ensure watercraft are maintained, with equipment like paddles, life jackets, and safety gear being regularly inspected and replaced when necessary.
Communicate and enforce guidelines for safe watercraft use, including maximum group sizes, boundaries for activities, and appropriate water conditions for paddling.
Swimming Area & Watercraft Zone Supervision:
Oversee the swimming areas and the designated watercraft zones, ensuring the safety of all swimmers, kayakers, canoers, and Corcl users.
Monitor participant behavior in both watercraft and swimming zones to prevent risky behaviors, including excessive speed, rough handling of watercraft, and unsupervised swimming.
Ensure that campers understand and respect the designated boundaries for water activities, including keeping clear of hazards or restricted zones.
Emergency Equipment Maintenance & Readiness:
Ensure all lifesaving equipment, including rescue tubes, life jackets, backboards, first aid kits, and throw bags, are ready and accessible in the watercraft areas.
Regularly inspect kayaks, canoes, Corcls, and safety equipment for wear and tear, ensuring they are in safe working order.
Record Keeping & Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of any incidents, rescues, first aid treatments, or equipment issues related to water activities.
Report any safety concerns, equipment maintenance needs, or accidents to camp management in a timely manner.
Customer Service & Interaction:
Provide friendly, helpful assistance to campers and guests participating in water activities, answering questions about kayaking, canoeing, swimming, and using Corcls.
Offer guidance and assistance to participants, especially beginners, in proper techniques and safety measures for each water activity.
Encourage responsible behavior, teaching participants about environmental awareness and water safety practices.
Collaboration with Other Staff Members:
Collaborate with other lifeguards, camp staff, and activity specialists to ensure smooth operations of water activities and safety protocols.
Participate in regular team meetings and emergency drills to stay prepared for all water-related emergencies.
Assessment & Feedback:
Monitor and assess camper progress and engagement in all activities, providing individualized feedback and support to help campers achieve learning objectives.
Collect and analyze data on program effectiveness, adjusting as necessary to improve outcomes.
Resource Management:
Manage materials and supplies needed for activities, ensuring they are well-organized and available.
Develop and source new resources, tools, and materials to enhance the quality of programming.
Mentorship & Leadership:

We don't do these externships on Fridays, as it won't give externs the same experience if everyone wasn't in the office.
