The Quality Assurance Specialist provides direct support to the success of Quality Systems. The Quality Assurance Specialist, with guidance from the Director of Quality Assurance, performs duties required to maintain the Quality Systems, including periodic verifications of systems and equipment, coordination and completion of calibrations and maintenance/installation of equipment, assisting with and performing validations, completion of auxiliary quality programs, and assisting in investigations. The Quality Assurance Specialist will perform finished good material review (batch record review) and approval of batch paperwork. They will work closely with the Document Control, Quality Control, and Production in a team environment to ensure timely completion and documentation of associated tasks. They provide quality support directly to the production floor, to include oversight for adherence to cGMPs, right-first-time completion of production GMP documentation, and effective investigation of deviations. Additionally, the Quality Assurance Specialist will provide direct support to the investigation, verification, and implementation of non-conformances and deviations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* The Quality Assurance Specialist will become knowledgeable in Federal and other regulatory agency requirements and cGMPs to assure that all areas are in compliance and will train on and gain competency in activities to facilitate release of product. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
* Perform document control activities including but not limited to reviewing and approving certificates of analysis and batch folders, filing and maintaining all records as required.
* Alerting the Quality department of any deviations from specifications and assisting with investigations by collecting additional data or samples as required.
* Collaborates with Planning, Operations and Technology organizations to ensure batches and raw materials are ready for release by appropriate due dates.
* Carryout validation or verification procedures to ensure compliance of systems.
* Collect various types of samples to send to the laboratory or other testing facilities for investigations, validations, or trending purposes.
* Provides support or performs laboratory analysis on validation or verification samples as required.
* Reviews and compiles data obtained for validation, verification, and investigation activities.
* Performs verification activities to confirm the success of implemented processes or action items.
* Completes, reviews and sends release records to Quality Assurance or other interested parties.
* Prioritizes document review to ensure alignment with product release due dates.
* Provides coaching and mentoring of manufacturing supervisors and operators completing documentation.
* Coordinates with Production to discuss, resolve, and eliminate documentation observations.
* Manages equipment maintenance and calibration program, coordinating and ensuring completion of relevant documentation (prior to use where applicable).
* Collaborates with team members in the identification and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives and action plans.
* Collaborates with team members to investigate deviations on production floor during shift.
* Works with necessary groups to resolve outstanding issues with process documents / logbooks, cGMP walk through inspection observations and quarantine, management.
* Assist Production, Maintenance, Quality and engineering to develop, write, review and train on Standard Operating Procedures and Policies, Work Instructions, and Forms.
* Perform or manage Quality system verifications, such as periodic adequate lighting verification, pressure differential verification, etc.
* Other duties as assigned. Responsible for the creation and maintenance of policies and procedures that impact on the purity, quality and composition of products manufactured by Deerland.
EQUIPMENT USED:
* Computer systems, hardness tester, disintegration apparatus, friability tester, balances, office equipment, and others as needs require.
* Working knowledge of all equipment is essential.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
* Appropriate Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; and 1-year related industry experience and / or training; or an Associate's degree and 5 years of related industry experience.
* Must have a valid Driver's License.

Tracks responses to and evaluates effectiveness of corrective actions for errors.

Quality Assurance Technician performs quality control checks on products to ensure they meet standards for safety, efficiency and quality. Quality Assurance Technician ensures products leave facility and meet expectations for consumers and distributors. Quality Assurance Technician will report on product quality and efficiencies to Quality team and provide suggestions and feedback when necessary. Quality Assurance Technician will follow all safety requirements and use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Areas of Focus
Quality Assurance Technician focuses on dock audits and record inspection and test results. Quality Assurance Technician will also report all questionable items, materials and/or processes to appropriate management for analysis and disposition.
Responsibilities
• Maintain Quality Assurance Department records, both hard copy and electronic copy
• Perform simple quality tests, casting/pasting inspections, curing released, voltage, gravity, etc.
• Perform acid receiving analysis and load acceptance
• Perform battery autopsy analysis and identify failure modes
• Assists QA Engineer with data collection and analysis
• Understand the battery manufacturing process from receiving through shipping
• Review circuit tending paperwork
• Troubleshoot any conditions that adversely affect product quality
• Make recommendations for adjusting equipment
• Fully perform QA procedures in all plant and shipping areas
• Perform electrical testing/analysis of all battery types
• Responsible individual with strong work ethic
• Available for various shifts, and overtime
Basic Qualifications
• High School Diploma
• Minimum 3 years of manufacturing and plant experience
• Good writing and communication skills
• Some formal QA training
• Ability to use hand tools and learn specific machine controls, gauges, etc.
• Understand specifications and labels associated with hazardous material
• Proficient in Microsoft Office

PURPOSE:
Responsible for supporting the effective and professional management of all quality functions. Facilitate the efficient production of quality products and services; to meet customer specifications and internal quality initiatives.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Quality
Prepare samples according to specifications for specific tests
Perform sample analysis; including testing of technical parameters such as basis weight, tensile strength, and elongation
Complete incoming goods inspections according to quality guidelines
Release incoming goods that meet quality specifications
Inspect finished products for quality characteristics, as outlined by customer specifications
Develop product specifications
Assist in the handling of complaints using the appropriate QMS documentation
Evaluate Certificates of Analysis (CoA's) and Statistical Process Control
Complete work using the Internal Material Data System (IMDS)
Develop test reports for initial production of new articles
Perform Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) to develop initial sample reports
Manage Technical Data Sheets
Create Quality Assurance Agreements
Manage laboratory cooperation
Create and explain quality fact sheets
Qualify new raw materials and supplies
Carry out validation procedures
Perform daily inspections for quality throughout the facility
Inspect finished goods (dimensions, winding, etc.)
Compare finished goods to reference sample
Assist with the handling of complaints regarding finished goods
Assist with the handling of complaints regarding fibers and other raw or auxiliary materials
Manual inspection of labelling, packaging, and finished goods storage in the warehouse

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities
* Ensures product meets internal and customer specifications and takes appropriate actions when a non-compliance is noted.
* Accurately conducts product reviews for compliance to include grading, packaging and weights.
* Performs and accurately records quality checks on product and regulatory checks as specified within company programs and USDA regulations.
* Monitors associates' work practices and addresses any deficiencies noticed immediately while continually evaluating potential for foreign material contamination while in assigned work areas.
* Inspects equipment for cleanliness and proper working condition prior to start up and records findings.
Minimum Education
High school or equivalent.
Experience Requirements
* 0 -2 years work experience.
* Good communication (both oral and written) and math skills.
Experience Preferred
Experience in food quality and/or safety.
Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements
* When in a plant environment: Exposure primarily consists of wet and moist floors which include metal and plastic grating surfaces.
* May be exposed to temperatures of 28 degrees to 100 degrees Fahrenheit with both ambient and 100% humidity.
* May handle product 25 degrees to 50 degrees Fahrenheit.
* May be exposed to noise ranges of 50 db to 110 db.
* May be exposed to dust, feathers and all chemicals used in poultry, food, processing facility.
* Must wear and use protective and safety equipment required for the job as directed by the Company.
* Occasional exposure to carbon dioxide vapors 10ppm and chlorine less than 20 ppm.
* Able to stand for several hours. Work may include lifting (up to 50 lbs), reaching, bending, pushing boxes on conveyor assembly.
