In this role, the QUALITY TECHNICIAN will ensure materials and finished goods conform to all company and customer standards. Perform inspections on incoming materials and in-process and final product to ensure quality levels are met. Perform first piece set-up and First Article Inspections in accordance with established inspection plans. Assist Quality Engineers in the execution of engineering studies. QUALITY TECHNICIAN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but not limited to: Conduct receiving, in-process, final inspections, and first piece set-up utilizing the appropriate measuring tools and equipment to verify dimensional and functional requirements. Conduct visual examination of product in accordance with customer specifications and company workmanship standards. Perform formal documented First Article Inspection (FAI) reports for internal and external customers. Prepare, maintain, and review inspection reports. Assist Quality Engineers in the creation of inspection plans. Perform containment activities preventing potential or additional quality defects. Develop in-process control charts for monitoring / improving performance as requested. Perform as auditee in respect to inspection processes for internal and external audit support as requested. Assist engineering in the execution of engineering studies such as measurement system analysis, capability analysis, etc. as requested. Perform problem solving activities for both product and manufacturing processes. Effectively communicate with cross-functional areas: supply chain, manufacturing, engineering, quality engineering, customer service, production planning. Train and Mentor Quality Technicians I and II. Participate in lean activities as required. Other miscellaneous duties as assigned. Responsible to conduct yourself and ensure your subordinates (if applicable) conduct themselves in a manner consistent with company mission, values, code of ethics, policies, and other standards of conduct. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE Associates degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum 5+ years of quality assurance experience required. KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES Skilled in use of standard inspection equipment and basic hand tools, such as: calipers, micrometers, steel rules, pin gages, go-no-go gages, CMM and Vision equipment. Understanding of Geometrical Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), engineering drawings and specifications, sampling techniques, and safety information. Working knowledge of ISO 13485, AS 9100, FDA Quality System Regulations, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). Problem solving and decision-making skills and the ability to think independently. Ability to demonstrate a record of excellent performance in meeting high standards of quality, quantity and dependability (attendance and punctuality). Strong listening, verbal, and written communication skills. Ability to collaborate and work well with others. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook. Must be detail oriented to keep accurate records and files. JOB SUMMARY The Quality Technician develops, supports, and maintains quality systems and processes that meet company and customer needs. This position provides focused quality support of manufacturing and business processes to ensure the delivery of product that meet our customers' expectations. This position will drive successful deployment and maintenance of business processes, tools, and training that contribute to compliance with business best practices. The Quality Technician will influence change across all business disciplines and will team up to do so with Manufacturing, Engineering, Purchasing, and Production. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS Associates degree or related (2-10 yrs.) experience in a technical role. Exceptional mechanical aptitude. Basic understanding of assembly processes. Experience with ISO 9001. Experience with ERP systems. Basic understanding of Lean Manufacturing is desired. Experience in conducting or shadowing of audits is desired. Ability to focus on both internal and external customer relationships and effectively manage expectations. Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and ability to manage project timelines. Proficient in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel and Outlook. Strong interpersonal communication skills both verbally and in writing. Ability to stand, walk and sit for extended periods of time. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES TECHNICIAL Calibration & Metrology - Help to, administer and maintain calibration program. Responsible for calibration, cleaning, repair and storage of various gages and their corresponding calibration documentation. Execute Gage Repeatability & Reproducibility (R&R) studies and interpret results to help determine gage capabilities. Production Testing - Maintain quality assurance metrics on scrap and first pass yield as well as additional quality reports, files and production-related metrics Supply Chain Quality Management - Responsible for preparing and retaining First Article Inspection (FAI), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and Temporary Deviation (TD) paperwork. Document & Record Control - Act as Document Control Administrator for plant. Create work instructions for quality processes and maintain orderly recording and maintenance of both physical and electronic controlled documents and records. Ensure current versions are available at point of use and that obsolete documents are removed and cancelled from system. CONTINIOUS IMPROVEMENT Inspection -Maintain and review trends in receiving inspection and act as a back-up to receiving inspector/RMA coordinator. Quality Management System (QMS) - Assist Quality Team in maintaining our plant-wide, ISO9001:2015 complaint QMS. PROBLEM SOLVING Non-conforming Materials -Manage a process for marking, segregation and review of rejected materials. Lead team through disposition, data collection, short and long-term corrective action, supplier interaction, reporting, and trend analysis. Corrective Action - Help conduct investigative and thorough inquiries to seek root cause and determine corrective actions using 8D, 5-Whys, Fishbone or other quality tools. Audit - Conduct 6S, product, process and/or systems audits within the plant. OTHER Other duties as assigned. COMPETENCIES 1.
