Job Purpose
The plant Quality Manager develops and maintains a strong culture of quality and food safety plant-wide. They develop and execute quality and food safety strategic initiative for the entire manufacturing site to drive continuous improvement while delivering against all Kraft Heinz internal quality measures (KPIs), external regulatory standards, and 3rd party customer requirements.
This position plays a key role in contributing to our vision of growing sustainably and delighting more consumers by ensuring the quality and protection of our brands. Essential Functions & Responsibilities
Leads a large team of Quality professionals capable of delivering on quality and production strategies, including but not limited to: Laboratory, Quality Compliance, Sanitation, Department Quality Supervisors, Quality Engineers, and other supporting staff.
Works with the corporate quality team and various support function to deliver on quality excellence programs to driving performance in consumer complaint reduction, hold reduction, sanitation execution, and regulatory compliance.
Utilization of industry and Kraft Heinz quality tools (RCFA, SPC, Green Belt, etc.) to improve quality and product superiority.
Leads and implements best-in-class quality and food safety KPIs to measure performance of team members, ultimately aligning with the larger factory and business priorities.
Drives team member engagement through strong leadership, career development, and conflict management.
Builds strong relationships with plant leadership team members to ensure quality programs are driven through cross-functional partnerships with shared goals.
Partners with corporate to drive automation and digital solutions including KHC Lighthouse and factory/lab of the future initiatives.
Capable of evaluating performance and competencies of plant QA staff while providing leadership training, coaching, and accountability as needed.
Drives consistency through development of work instructions and training to set standards.
Manages the plant's Corrective Action and Preventive Action program to drive continuous improvement.
Drives excellence in innovation thru supporting R&D plant trials and feedback, ensuring successful end-to-end commercialization of brand maintenance and innovation projects.
Maintains plant GMPs, HACCP, pre-requisite programs while serving as the primary liaison between plant and external regulatory agencies (FDA, CFIA, etc.) during routine and unannounced visits.
Provides direction and subject matter expertise on plant Quality-related activities and inquiries
Prepares for and leads all internal and external quality audits, ensuring all corrective and preventative action timelines are adhered to.
Routinely monitors KHC quality systems, tools, and data sources to proactively address potential risks before they occur.
Oversees record keeping for all mandated quality checks, testing, sampling and sanitation activities.
Tracks, analyzes, and supports RCFA initiatives for quality-related, factory-controllable consumer complaints.
Prepares and maintains relevant FSQ permitting and licensing for the plant.
Manages departmental budgeting, purchasing and inventory of plant quality supplies such as filters, chemicals, tools and lab supplies.
Serves as the plant lead for company quality and manufacturing initiatives including the implementation of the Kraft Heinz Management System (KHMS).
Develops strong working relationships with key suppliers and vendors.
Communicates effectively across all levels of the factory and corporate leadership team.
Expected Experience & Required Skills
Quality manager experience in a manufacturing environment managing multiple salaried and hourly employees.
Food and beverage manufacturing experience required.
Strong knowledge of GFSI (FSSC 22000) requirements required and previous experience as an audit facilitator preferred.
Demonstrates the ability to drive continuous improvement, is results-driven and delivers against set targets.
Demonstrates understanding of Statistical Process Control (SPC), HACCP, sanitation, analytical/microbiology testing principles, and hygienic design principals.
Has project management skills and a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
Develop and promote a quality-focused culture that aligns with Kraft Heinz's strategic goals.
Meat manufacturing experience preferred.
Bachelor's degree in food science, chemistry, microbiology or related field preferred.
ERP system and Quality system experience, SAP and Infinity preferred.
Work Environment & Schedule
This position is considered a
Manufacturing plant environment with heavy machinery and equipment.
Additionally, this role requires availability to provide support for a 24-hour / 7-day week operation for critical issues if needed.

About the job
The Quality Supervisor will be responsible for executing aspects of quality assurance and quality control processes. As part of the Engineering team, the Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for the development and implementation of manufacturing processes on new and existing products to achieve an optimum relationship between cost and quality. This position is responsible for every aspect of process engineering, industrial engineering, production standard costs, tooling/equipment procurement, improving operating performance, identifying and reducing waste, supporting new product evaluation and onboarding, and troubleshooting in assigned areas of responsibility. This Manufacturing Engineer ensures a quality system is effectively implemented to prevent defects and provides information for continuous improvement, including using lean manufacturing concepts to eliminate waste.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
* Continually evaluate alternatives leading to the development and implementation of manufacturing processes on new and existing products to achieve an optimum relationship between cost and quality.
* Responsible for work center design and product/process flow including ergonomic considerations, lean manufacturing technology, mechanical design, electrical component usage & system logic, changeover ease, etc. to optimize the manufacturing process.
* Evaluate new equipment models and develop processing plans and supporting standard work to launch production runs.
* Lead business unit efforts in the development and implementation of lean manufacturing concepts including developing strategies, training employees, facilitating kaizen events, etc.
* Coordinate activities in scrap reduction, elimination of rework, material variances, labor variances, safety & ergonomic evaluations, and overall continuous improvement in assigned areas.
* Collaborate with the staff to ensure that all performance goals and objectives are supported. Establish and maintain a cooperative relationship with all support functions.
* Coordinate activities with the Plant Manager to ensure conformance with objectives and policies.
* Plan, justify, execute, and monitor capital programs as assigned. This includes budgeted capital projects such as tooling, equipment, automation initiatives, etc.
* Develop and maintain the layout of production and non-production floor space for effective utilization. Develop and maintain all production routings, work measurement standards, manufacturing set-up and work instructions, work center descriptions, etc. for operations in assigned areas.
* Provide support and coordinate all mechanical/electrical repairs with the Maintenance Department to develop detailed instructions for all preventative and predictive maintenance tasks for the upkeep of all equipment in assigned areas.
* Develops sampling plans, quality standards, and process control instructions to monitor and reduce variation.
* Interface with customer to identify process and product improvement opportunities and to identify short term, and long-term corrective actions.
Required Qualifications, Skills/Competencies
* BSME, BSIE, or equivalent with at least 3 years of experience in manufacturing and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
* Experience with implementing and executing lean manufacturing concepts.
* Strong leadership and exhibited skills mentoring, developing, and training employees on continuous improvement.
* Excellent persuasive skills and the ability to facilitate, support and implement change within the organization.

Functions and Responsibilities
Perform and document all production startup checks at the given time limits to insure all finished product specifications are met using start-up sheets. Develop and ensure execution of strategies that improve the agility and reliability of the supply base in support of new product launches and line extensions. Proactively work with strategic suppliers to deliver continuous improvement ideas and technology which ultimately leads to drive our advantage and revenue generating opportunities. Perform and document periodic audit checks of line operators to insure all HACCP/Process checks are done correctly and in a timely manner. Assist in product changeovers to insure all previously run packaging supplies are removed from the line and current running packaging supplies is available. Verify and document accuracy of Loma Check weighers. Communicate and document problems to Line Tech or Supervisor. Assist operators as needed in their effort to perform the functions of the job to the highest quality and safety levels. Perform miscellaneous tasks such as Housekeeping, inspections and Packer training on product specifications. Collect, verify accuracy and file all daily quality, HACCP and manufacturing process paper work. Perform all other tasks as assigned by Supervisor. Assist Line Tech and Supervisor in maintaining a safe work environment.
Education/job knowledge/experience:
EDUCATION REQUIRED: High School Diploma or equivalent.
SPECIALIZED JOB KNOWLEDGE OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED/SKILL LEVEL: Previous pickle packer experience. Basic math and interpersonal skills, the ability to work with limited supervision, work within certain time constraints, neat and accurate handwriting for detailing information. Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.

The Quality Test Technician II supports the team and activities relating to quality and process improvement for the manufacturing site in Sterling, Illinois. This role works closely with Design Engineering, Quality, Production, and Materials to ensure items are manufactured in a timely manner and according to specifications. This position functions independently in a multi-task environment, as well as part of a team. Additionally, the technician works in an office and manufacturing environment with moderate noise levels and typical manufacturing conditions.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Inspection & Testing
This position is responsible for creating quality inspection plans and programs.
Follow and enhance current inspection plans to be utilized during receiving, in process, first article and final inspection.
Using work instructions, job traveler, blueprints, engineer drawings and specifications; inspects, checks, and tests materials, parts, components, and product during various stages of production including receiving and in-process inspections on floor.
Ensure gages used to validate product are properly maintained and calibrated.
Validate product post outside service processing to product and documentation conformity.
Work with plant personnel to ensure electrical testing is being performed correctly.
Process testing of AN's to current at the end of every week.
Training & Support
Train employees in the use of inspection plans and procedures.
Assist and train inspection and production personnel in Geometric Dimension & Tolerancing (GD&T) and gaging methodology.
Assist Quality Supervisor/Manager in programming test equipment including production test equipment.
Assist and provide back-up coverage duties of the Quality Supervisor/Manager and Quality Auditors during vacation or other periods of absenteeism.
Coordination & Communication
Interacts with engineering, inspection, and production personnel to ensure products, components, parts, and material conform to customer, supplier, and regulatory requirements.
Provide customers with return authorization, as needed, and coordinate with customer service on processing of credit memos.
Keep management informed of job-related problems and other information related to work activity.
Participate in other quality department activities including internal audits or production auditor substitution.
Quality Management & Process Improvement
Assist in maintaining quality management system.
Review existing inspection plans for effectiveness.
Assist with Corrective Action Preventive Action (CAPA) activities.
Assist in the disposition and documentation of non-conforming material and the implementation of corrective action.
Test returned materials (RMA) and process results through ERP on a weekly schedule and identity root cause for RMA returns and develop actions to prevent future occurrences.
Assist in the coordination and execution of process validation activities, including statistical data collection and analysis utilizing capability and gage R & R studies.
Manage calibration system.
Improve safety by investigating, suggesting, and implementing fixtures or other apparatus to prevent accidental electrical shock or other injuries.
Assist in troubleshooting product processes.
