About Our Team
The Center Operations department (1861) is dedicated to establishing and maintaining the operations culture, principles, and practices within the center. We serve as a central hub for managing the operational needs of center 1800, leveraging both internal expertise and site-wide resources to achieve our objectives. We utilize engineering operations and domain expertise to define and negotiate system requirements for the Center's Environment Health and Safety, Mission/Quality Assurance, Safeguards and Security, Facilities, and Digital Infrastructure activities. Our primary objectives are to create new digital tools that streamline processes and deliver measurable gains in operational efficiencies, supporting center operations by managing waste management, safety programs, and center communications. Essential Functions of the Position
Conduct QA/QC inspections for all civil construction activities, including but not limited
to earthwork, foundation, concrete placement, utilities, roadways, and structural
components.
Review and interpret project drawings, specifications, and quality requirements.
Prepare and maintain daily inspection reports, test results, non-conformance reports
(NCRs), and corrective action documentation.
Monitor construction work to ensure compliance with approved inspection and test plans
(ITPs).
Coordinate with contractors, site engineers, consultants, and quality managers to address
any quality-related issues.
Verify materials and workmanship meet the project's approved submittals and standards.
Attend quality and coordination meetings as needed.
Ensure that all inspection and testing records are properly documented and archived.
Support continuous improvement by identifying recurring quality issues and suggesting
practical solutions.
Minimum Requirements
High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Civil
Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
Minimum of [3-5] years of experience in civil construction QA/QC, preferably in
infrastructure or large-scale projects.
In-depth knowledge of industry standards and codes (ASTM, ACI, AASHTO, etc.).
Experience reviewing and implementing Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and Quality
Control Plans (QCPs).
Familiarity with construction materials and laboratory/field testing procedures.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and QA/QC reporting tools.
Valid driver's license and the ability to travel to project sites.

Job Summary
Kairos Power is seeking a highly motivated Quality Innovation Engineering Intern to support the development and implementation of quality strategies and support quality assessments of the design, build, and operation of near-term nuclear and non-nuclear hardware demonstration projects. The Quality Innovation Engineering Intern will work in close partnership with mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and controls (I&C), testing, manufacturing, operations, and licensing engineering staff to identify safety-related items and activities, applicable quality assurance requirements, support the development of quality strategies, and support assessments of activities in progress and after completion to ensure effective quality program implementation.
In addition, the Quality Innovation Engineering Intern will work with technology partners to collect operating experience from the Kairos Power technology development program and identify potential conditions adverse to quality, associated causes and corrective actions. This role will contribute to the technology development programs for the demonstration and commercialization of Kairos Power reactors.
Responsibilities
Develop and document quality strategies rooted in engineering best practices to satisfy applicable quality requirements for safety-related systems and projects.
Support assessments of the implementation of quality strategies across project lifetimes using in-field observation, interviews and objective evidence from documents and records.
Participate in project meetings, reviews and walkthroughs to support identification of risks, gaps and improvement opportunities in work execution and documentation.
Assist Kairos Power hardware technology development by capturing, analyzing and disseminating operating experience, as well as support corrective action and continuous improvement.
Support continuous improvement efforts internal to the Quality Innovation team that improve automation of analysis and documentation work products.
Assist with tracking and trending quality-related data (e.g., nonconformances, operating experience, assessment outcomes) and preparing summaries for team review.
Other duties as assigned, which may include hands-on assignments with hardware fabrication, assembly, commissioning, and operation.
Qualifications
Currently enrolled and pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nuclear, Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, Civil, or Materials Engineering, or equivalent.
Experience with data analysis/automation and ability to develop further experience in R, R Markdown, Python, git, LaTeX, Bash/Shell/Batch scripting, Docker, VS Code, GitHub, etc.
Hands-on experience with hardware design, fabrication, assembly, or testing preferred.

The Center Operations department (1861) is dedicated to establishing and maintaining the operations culture, principles, and practices within the center. We serve as a central hub for managing the operational needs of center 1800, leveraging both internal expertise and site-wide resources to achieve our objectives. Responsible for obtaining and reviewing all culture results & assists in reporting of culture results. Differentiates between potential infections or culture contamination. Reports results within 24 hours to appropriate transplant centers and governing bodies.
Responsible for obtaining, reviewing and reporting autopsy results for both organ donors. Ability to review the results to assess for cause of death and incidental findings necessary to report to recipient transplant centers.
Responsible for notifying all transplant centers and other applicable agencies when there is a reportable finding in the autopsy.
Responsible for obtaining autopsy results for tissue donors and providing to the Quality Assurance Team for dissemination to processors.
Obtains recipient follow up for all donor cases from appropriate transplant centers.
Responsible for working with Exam Works to provide timely organ/donor reimbursement to hospitals. Works closely with the Clinical Review Coordinator to accurately send redacted donor records to the contact at Exam Works.
Monitors status of required UNET Data Reporting - Deceased Donor Record (DDR), Donor Disposition, PTRs, etc.
May assist Clinical Review Coordinator with elements of organ donor chart review.
If applicable, provides seven day a week coverage for reportable events such as culture results, autopsies, etc.
Ability to recognize confirmed reportable diseases required to report to applicable state agencies.
Schedules and provides monthly agenda for Quality Department meeting and completes minutes.
Responsible for maintaining logs for offsite storage of records and for communication with off-site storage facility personnel such as: requesting, returning, and adding new items (labeled boxes) to be stored off-site.
Recognizes and reports trends and opportunities for process improvement related to donor records and OPO statistics to quality management.
Maintains open verbal and written communication with DCIDS and location Quality Department teams and all other applicable DCIDS departments as it relates to job functions and tasks.
Acts as a role model for DCIDS and the DCIDS Quality Departments by supporting, reinforcing, and exhibiting behaviors consistent with the DCIDS core values; selfless, hardworking, passionate, and dependable.
