Description:
ARRT (M) required (no state licensure required)
Mammographer performs film screen and/or digital mammography exams with thorough patient history/information collected, to provide the interpreting Radiologist an accurate clinical history of patient signs and symptoms.
Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
Performs mammogram exams on patients.
Obtains patient history, prior films/reports, and any other supportive role information that is needed (RIS/PACS, burn discs).
Performs Quality Control (QC) needed for FDA/ACR.
Provides imaging support to other modalities in the center (x-ray/ bone density, etc).
Works with mammogram letters (results/reminders).
Position Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent experience required; Associate's Degree preferred.
Graduate of a State-approved Mammography program required.
ARRT (M) required.
AHA BLS required
Strong customer service skills.
Organizational and multi-tasking skills.
Basic knowledge of computer applications and programs.
As applicable, a valid state driver's license is required.

Key Accountabilities:
1. Maintain competence in all procedure and equipment set-ups

18. Maintains clinical proficiency and annual health stream. Participates in the department quality, safety and compliance initiatives.
19. Demonstrates competencies, including knowledge and behaviors to meet age specific patient needs (e.g. Pediatric, Adolescents, and Geriatrics) and cultural diversity. Works effectively as team member within the department and other units to provide quality service through pertinent knowledge, communication, cooperation and collaboration. Work to supervise Radiology students and new hires as needed.
20. Operates IR equipment to produce accurate images while maintaining sterile technique. Assembles sterile trays and assumes scrub duties as necessary. Accurately documents procedure performed. Verify correct orders and relevant history in the patients chart.
21. Performs diagnostic and therapeutic interventional procedures by selecting the correct exposure factors utilizing the assessment of patient age, pathology and diagnosis to produce technically accurate digital images to assist the radiologist in diagnosing. Work with students.
22. Accurately inputs procedural information into electronic medical record, RIS and PACS to capture necessary information regarding exams, supply charges, resource allocations, radiation exposure as well as all relevant clinical information.
23. Obtains all relevant patient information, including but not limited to, current lab values, medication usage, ensuring reason for exam is concordant with exam request in order to perform the appropriate exam, on the correct patient, to procure an accurate diagnosis.
24. Explain procedures to patients and addresses their concerns. Utilizes ALARA principals and appropriate infection control techniques to ensure a safe work environment.
25. Appropriately maintains exam rooms, supplies and equipment according to performance standards. Maintains area supplies and reports equipment malfunctions. Performs and documents quality assurance testing on equipment according to established protocols to maintain high performance of the system. Transports patients as necessary.
Qualifications Guidelines:
Education Required:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Graduate AMA approved radiology program.
Registered with American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT)
CT state license.
CPR certification may be required.
Maintenance of continuing education credits as required by licensure.

Inform technical staff of patient flow.
Prepare patients for examination, which includes conducting interviews to verify patient information, record medical history; confirm purpose of visit;
Perform preliminary physical test (blood pressure, weight, temperature, etc.) for vital signs and escalate critical cases to provider as needed.
Conduct point of care testing as needed (i.e., flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG, HCG); and provide patient information to provider.
Administrative
Responsible for maintenance of medical records and scanning charts to patient files.
Conduct courtesy call-backs for patient follow-up on care
Follow operating instructions to perform and document daily controls and calibration of equipment; maintain Quality Assurance/Quality Control logs for equipment troubleshoot breakdowns, perform preventive maintenance, and submit repair tickets as needed

Medical Team Support: Collaborate with the ordering/treating Provider to determine which procedures or views will best assist in accurate diagnoses and treatment. Support clinic operations to keep the center running smoothly.
Patient Care: Explaining procedures to patients, ensuring their comfort and safety, and answering their questions.
Patient Positioning: Accurately positioning patients and equipment for optimal imaging results.
Image Production: Selecting proper ionizing factors by adjusting/setting radiographic controls to capture clear, high-quality diagnostic images
Equipment Maintenance: Performing routine maintenance, cleaning of X-ray equipment, and managing necessary supplies.
Radiation Safety: Adhering to strict radiation safety protocols and implementing ALARA (as low as reasonably achievable) to minimize exposure to patients and staff.

Image Management: Verifying image quality and ensuring images are sent to radiologists for interpretation.

Job Summary
Perform radiographic and other diagnostic imaging procedures to assist physicians in diagnosing injuries and disease. Assist with administrative and clinical needs as appropriate, such as patient registration and medical assisting duties.
Responsibilities
Greet patients and explain procedures to patients in a compassionate manner
Position patients appropriately for diagnostic imaging procedures
Practice ALARA radiation protection techniques
Process images, review for proper identification and quality control and prepare images for reading by a physician as well as radiologist overreads
Utilize both digital and non-digital diagnostic imaging equipment, ensuring compliance with approved radiology techniques and all policies and procedures
Aid provider with prescribed patient treatments in accordance with approved standards, policies, procedures, and protocol as necessary.
Perform routine maintenance, diagnose malfunctions, and make minor repairs on equipment, arranging for repairs as needed
Complete forms and maintains records, logs, and reports of work performed
Serve as Medical Receptionist and/or Medical Assistant if/when needed within appropriate guidelines
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
Associates degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school or six months to one-year related experience and/or training. ARRT-registered or board eligible preferred. Licensed per state regulation. In some states, Medical Assistant Certification or registry, Practical Nursing License, EMT or Paramedic certification is acceptable.

Conduct point of care testing as needed (i.e., flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG, HCG); and provide patient information to provider.
Administrative
Responsible for maintenance of medical records and scanning charts to patient files.
Conduct courtesy call-backs for patient follow-up on care
Follow operating instructions to perform and document daily controls and calibration of equipment; maintain Quality Assurance/Quality Control logs for equipment troubleshoot breakdowns, perform preventive maintenance, and submit repair tickets as needed
Other responsibilities include:
Medical Team Support: Collaborate with the ordering/treating Provider to determine which procedures or views will best assist in accurate diagnoses and treatment. Support clinic operations to keep the center running smoothly.
