Summary:
The Travel Cath Lab RN provides specialized care for patients undergoing cardiac catheterization and interventional treatments. The RN prepares patients for procedures, assists during interventions, and monitors immediate post-procedure recovery. Working closely with cardiologists and cath lab teams, this role requires advanced cardiac care skills, cardiac catheterization skills, strong communication, and the ability to adapt quickly while maintaining strict safety and regulatory standards.
Essential Work Functions:
Conduct assessment of patients prior to procedures, including reviewing medical history and performing physical exams
Assist in positioning patients correctly for the procedure and ensure EKG electrodes and cardiac leads are properly placed
Assist physicians during procedures, including the placement of catheters, wires, balloons, stents, structural heart devices, and other cardiac interventions
Operate and monitor hemodynamic equipment, recognizing and responding to changes in cardiac rhythms and hemodynamic waveforms
Assist in arterial and/or venous sheath removal using closure devices, manual pressure, or mechanical compression, and transport patients to the appropriate recovery area
Monitor vital signs, ECG, and hemodynamic parameters during cardiac catheterization and interventional procedure
Support post-procedure care, including monitoring patient recovery and ensuring a smooth transition to the next phase of care
Maintain and troubleshoot cath lab equipment, ensuring everything is functioning properly and fully stocked for procedures
Communicate effectively with team members, patients, families, and physicians to provide seamless care
Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards
Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of practice

The Medical Support Specialist follows guidance provided by BioLife Medical Affairs and provides center level support of environmental, health and safety (EHS).
How you will contribute
You will determine donor eligibility; to include, proper management of informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE).
You will evaluate donor reaction(s), which occurs at the facility as outlined in the SOPs. Follow applicable SOPs for medical emergencies including the development of Center Physician's standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities.
You will refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs (as applicable) when in need of providing unacceptable findings to donors, or guidance concerning medical or technical issues, including donor safety and eligibility.
You will support the Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
You will manage employee incidents and determine whether further evaluation is required by occupational health/ER. Refer to EHS guidance regarding employee incidents.
You can be a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations associated with pandemic threats within the local community as indicated by EHS or Medical Affairs.
What you bring to Takeda:
High school diploma or equivalent to including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements

Job Description
NC II- Under general direction, provides complex nursing and program consultation and technical assistance to public and private agencies on the provision of health services; plans, develops, organizes, monitors, and evaluates programs and studies on the delivery of health services; may also serve in a lead capacity to Nurse Consultants and other health-related multidisciplinary staff; develops and evaluates program standards, policies, and procedures; and does other related work.
NC III- Positions at this level function as nonsupervisory technical specialists in difficult and/or sensitive program and policy development or in a coordinating role where the level of expertise required is definitively greater than that for any other supervisory position at this level. Incumbents serve as highly skilled technical program consultants, or as recognized authorities in areas of extreme sensitivity or complexity, or in areas of high specialization. Typically, incumbents have statewide responsibility for the nursing and related components of a major statewide program with coordinating or lead responsibility for nursing and other professional/technical staff. Under general direction, incumbents provide the most complex, difficult, and sensitive consultation; develop, plan, organize, coordinate, implement, and evaluate the nursing and related components of a major statewide program; evaluate and ensure statewide program consistency; provide professional guidance to nursing and other health professional staff; and do other related work.

The State of California offers regular business hour shifts and provides 11 paid holidays, paid sick and vacation leave, health benefits, pension and optional 401K and 457 savings plans. Nurses are entitled to another thirty-two hours of paid education leave (during a two year licensure period) for the purpose of earning the Continuing Education Units required for license renewal. Additionally, nurses are eligible for reimbursement of the $140 CA Board of Registered Nursing renewal fee. The salary range is $5,015 to $6,586 per month depending upon years of experience and education. Based on the current State retirement benefit package, with as little as 10 years of state service, you will receive a 50% employer contribution toward the cost of your monthly health premium during retirement, plus 5% for each whole year after the 10th year, up to 100% after 20 years or more.

Essay SOQ - A single essay question for the applicant to describe their knowledge, skills, and abilities related to the position. Arial font, 12 point, no more than 2 pages.
