BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
Degree: Professional Engineering. To be acceptable, the curriculum must: (1) be in a school of engineering with at least one curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) as a professional engineering curriculum; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics.

Combination of education and experience: College-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying professional engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering. The adequacy of such background must be demonstrated by one of the following:
1. Professional Registration: Current registration as a professional engineer by any State, the District of Columbia , Guam, or Puerto Rico . Absent other means of qualifying under this standard, those applicants who achieved such registration by means other than written test (e.g., State grandfather or eminence provisions) are eligible only for positions that are within or closely related to the specialty field of their registration. For example, an applicant who attains registration through a State Board's eminence provision as a manufacturing engineer typically would be rated eligible only for manufacturing engineering positions.
2. Written Test: Evidence of having successfully passed the Engineer-in-Training (EIT) examination, or the written test required for professional registration, which is administered by the Boards of Engineering Examiners in the various States, the District of Columbia , Guam, and Puerto Rico .
3. Specified Academic Courses: Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and inengineering that included the courses specified in the basic requirements. The courses must be fully acceptable toward meeting the requirements of a professional engineering curriculum.
4. Related Curriculum: Successful completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree inengineering technology or in an appropriate professional field, e.g., physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology, may be accepted in lieu of a degree inengineering, provided the applicant has had at least one year of professional engineering experience acquired under professional engineering supervision and guidance. Ordinarily there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:

Examples of specialized experience include the ability to research, develop, test and evaluate; procurement and production of munitions, aircraft, and related hardware. Provide technical consultation involving munitions test engineering technology. Determines test requirements and overall objects. Prepare test plans to meet the requirement of the project.
GS-13: Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience to at least the (GS-12) grade level under the General Schedule (GS) or other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience include engineering design and correction of repair procedures. Assume full authority for contract modification and technical recommendations for change order approval. Participate in contract negotiations and award recommendations. Exercise budget control directly supporting the construction, surveillance, and inspection effort. Approves or delegates authority for approval of construction plans, specification, cost estimates, design calculations, construction schedules, contract cost change proposals, and engineering studies.
GS-14: Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience to at least the (GS-13) grade level under the General Schedule (GS) or other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience include plan and program, support contract management, improvement and modernization, advanced strategic planning, marketing, technical symposia, and management of the organization direct and reimbursable budget and verification of test program funds.
GS-15: Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience to at least the (GS-14) grade level under the General Schedule (GS) or other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience include direct and coordinate engineering, construction, and maintenance programs and approves criteria for specialized critical system design and construction. Design and implement advanced sensor fusion algorithms using Extended Kalman Filters (EKF), Unscented Kalman Filters (UKF), and Nonlinear Observers.
Develop and refine tightly coupled and loosely coupled navigation solutions integrating IMU, odometry, vision (VIO/SVO), LiDAR, magnetometers, and barometers.

We are seeking a talented Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic team. The primary responsibility of this role is the mechanical development of electro-mechanical products. This position involves handling R&D hardware, firmware, software, and complete solutions projects as part of a cross-functional team. The Mechanical Engineer will collaborate with team members and other R&D teams in the design, development, and validation of complete Smart Grid solutions.
Responsibilities
+ Perform mechanical system and component design utilizing solid modeling CAD tools.
+ Create detailed drawings of parts and assemblies using CAD tools.
+ Calculate and layout dimensions, angles, curvature of parts, materials to be used, and relationship of various parts to entire structure.
+ Ensure mechanical development is created per schedule and per cost objectives.
+ Generate BOMs and ECOs.
+ Support the development of products from inception to production-ready capacity.
+ Interact with internal and outside suppliers to procure, deliver, and implement parts and designs.
+ Troubleshoot and find corrective actions for 'in the field' products that may experience failures.
+ Contribute to component and/or solution design, development, documentation, and validation.
+ Work on agile development teams, collaborating with multiple cross-discipline architecture teams to develop hardware and software components as part of Smart Grid solutions.
+ Participate in recruitment, development, and mentoring of junior engineers.
+ Contribute to area-specific continuous improvement initiatives.
+ Contribute to innovative technology and solutions development and/or validation.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or relevant field.
+ 1-5 years of electromechanical design experience
+ 3D modeling experience

The work environment consists of a close-knit group of colleagues. Standard working hours are from 8 am to 5 pm.

The pay range for this position is $74000.00 - $100000.00/yr.
