The Director will lead grant accounting, month-end close, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis while managing and developing a high-performing finance team. Key Responsibilities Financial Leadership & Management + Provide strategic leadership for the accounting and finance functions, ensuring alignment with the organization's mission and goals. + Manage, mentor, and develop finance and accounting staff; foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. + Partner with executive leadership and department heads to support operational and strategic decision-making. Accounting & Financial Reporting + Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and fixed assets. + Lead and manage the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements. + Ensure compliance with GAAP, nonprofit accounting standards, and FQHC-specific reporting requirements. + Prepare financial reports for internal leadership, Board of Directors, and external stakeholders. Grant & Fund Accounting + Oversee grant accounting for federal, state, local, and private grants, including HRSA and other FQHC-related funding. + Ensure accurate tracking, reporting, and compliance with grant budgets, allowable costs, and reporting deadlines. + Coordinate with program leaders to support grant budgeting, monitoring, and audits. Budgeting & Forecasting + Lead the annual budgeting process in collaboration with leadership and department managers. + Develop multi-year financial forecasts and cash flow projections. + Monitor budget-to-actual performance, analyze variances, and provide actionable insights and recommendations. Compliance, Audits & Internal Controls + Maintain strong internal controls to safeguard organizational assets. + Coordinate and lead annual financial audits, Uniform Guidance (Single Audit), and other external reviews. + Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including FQHC and nonprofit requirements. Systems & Process Improvement + Oversee financial systems and accounting software; identify opportunities for automation and process efficiencies. + Support data integrity and accurate financial reporting across systems. Requirements Required + Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. + Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including leadership/management responsibility. + Demonstrated experience in nonprofit accounting, preferably within an FQHC or healthcare environment. + Strong experience with grant accounting and compliance. + Proven expertise in month-end close, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis. + Strong leadership, communication, and team management skills. + Advanced knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit financial reporting. + High level of integrity, attention to detail, and analytical ability.
