What you'll do: The EH&S Manager is a hands-on role working tactically and strategically with full responsibility for the development, implementation, and management of the Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) programs. This position is responsible for ensuring company compliance with all local, state, and federal environmental health and safety regulations, while promoting a safe and environmentally sustainable workplace. Collaborating closely with all company managers and leader, the EH&S manager develops, leads, and manages all company safety practices, protocols, training, documentation, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives. This is an onsite role with travel to manufacturing facilities in Lamar, MO and installation worksites across the US. Salary range flexible for consideration of background and experience. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: BS Engineering, Safety, or Industrial Hygiene related discipline and/or combination or experience and education. Proven ability to develop and deliver EH&S training programs. Experience in incident investigation, risk assessment, and environmental sustainability programs. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office and experience with safety software or databases. Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks effectively. Ability to travel to multiple locations at regular intervals and as other need arises. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Compliance Management: Ensure the company compliant all applicable environmental, health, and safety regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA, local regulatory agencies). Consult with local regulatory agencies on local environmental quality standards, industrial practices, and new developments to ensure proper permitting and practices are followed. Risk Management: Conduct regular risk assessments and hazard analyses to identify potential environmental, health, and safety risks. Training & Development: Develop and deliver EH&S training programs for employees at all levels of the company to ensure compliance with OSHA, applicable laws and regulations and company policies, procedures and standards. Incident Investigation & Reporting: Develop and maintain record keeping programs(s) required to report incidents, claims and plant health/safety/environmental activity to appropriate organizations. Environmental Management: Manage waste disposal, recycling programs, and emissions monitoring to ensure environmental compliance. Health & Safety Audits: Conduct regular internal safety audits to assess compliance with safety standards and recommend improvements. SMS Mill Services, LLC are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Coordinator to oversee and enhance our environmental health and safety onsite programs at our Coatesville, PA location. We are onsite Cleveland Cliffs' steel mill property. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, promoting occupational health standards, and implementing effective strategies for workplace safety. This role requires a proactive approach to identifying potential hazards and developing solutions that align with our organizational goals. SMS provides a comprehensive range of services for steel mill customers. We partner with our customers to design custom, cost-effective solutions, which focus on adding value and achieving goals for the operation and the environment. Our range of services includes, but is not limited scrap yard management, finished or semi-finished product services, melt shop services, logistics/transportation support, and slag processing. This position will report to the Regional Safety Manager. Duties Implement and maintain policies and procedures in accordance with EPA regulations, OSHA standards, and corporate initiatives. Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance with environmental and OSHA laws and regulations. Respond to onsite accidents/incidents/injuries. Complete incident reports related to occupational health and safety, providing actionable recommendations for improvement. Collaborate with various departments to fabricate solutions for EHS. Provide training on EHS practices to new employees to ensure a safe workplace. Serve as the primary EHS point of contact for the site. Document, update, and maintain the site for any EHS incident in digital portal Benchmark ESG for all property damage, near miss, unsafe act/condition, observations, ATS, corrective actions, and compliance calendar. Immediately be able to investigate injuries, property damage, and near misses. Identify root cause and put corrective actions into place, communicate to the site team and train to the standard. Be able to certify for first aid, CPR, and AED to respond and provide care to injured teammates, escort to clinic/emergency room, and to manage the situation while working with medical providers. Maintain documentation of the company's safety procedures, accidents and related events in Benchmark and paper files. Function as part of the management team and align with core values, safety policy, and six safety steps to success to meet company policies and goals, escalating and reporting issues that require further assistance as appropriate. Plan, participate and actively contribute to internal and external business meetings as necessary and appropriate. Complete and track progress on environmental annual reporting with third party consultants such as Tier II and annual emissions report, etc. Also maintain compliance of daily, weekly, monthly, and annual environmental requirements such as SPCC and SWPPP. Experience 2-5 years' experience in EHS field. Heavy industrial environment experience strongly preferred. On-call availability, nights/weekends to respond to incidents.
